³⁶ For what will it profit a man, to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?

²⁴ No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other, or he will hold to one and despise the other. Ye can not serve God and Mammon.

³⁴ For there was no one among them that lacked; for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things sold,

²⁷ Religion, pure and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: To visit the orphans and widows in their affliction; to keep himself unspotted from the world.

²¹ Not every one that says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father who is in heaven. ²² Many will say to me in that day: Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in thy name, and in thy name cast out demons, and in thy name do many miracles? ²³ And then will I profess to them, I never knew you; depart from me, ye who work iniquity.

⁶ But as to this, he that sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly; and he that sows with blessings shall also reap with blessings;

¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all evils; which some coveting after wandered away from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

²⁶ For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? Or what shall a man give as an exchange for his soul?

¹⁹ Lay not up for yourselves treasures on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal. ²⁰ But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. ²¹ For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

³⁵ In all ways I showed you that, so laboring, ye ought to assist the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said: It is more blessed to give than to receive.

¹⁷ Charge those who are rich in this world, that they be not high-minded, nor place their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but in God, who gives us all things richly for enjoyment; ¹⁸ that they do good, be rich in good works, be free in imparting, willing to communicate; ¹⁹ laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on the true life.
