⁶ But we speak wisdom among those who are perfect; but a wisdom not of this world, nor of the rulers of this world, who come to naught. ⁷ But we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the worlds unto our glory; ⁸ which no one of the rulers of this world has known; for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory; ⁹ but (as it is written) things which eye saw not, nor ear heard, and which entered not into the heart of man, which God prepared for those who love him; ¹⁰ but to us God revealed them by his Spirit, for the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

²¹ For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom knew not God, God was pleased through the foolishness of preaching to save those who believe;

¹⁸ And certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoics, were disputing with him. And some said: What would this babbler say? and others: He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign gods; because he made known to them the good news of Jesus and the resurrection.

¹⁶ Let not any one therefore judge you in food, or in drink, or in respect of a feast-day, or of a new-moon, or of a sabbath; ¹⁷ which are a shadow of the things to come, but the body is of Christ. ¹⁸ Let no one defraud you of the prize, seeking it in humiliation and worship of the angels, intruding into things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, ¹⁹ and not holding fast the head, from whom all the body, by means of the joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and being knit together, increases with the increase of God.

¹ I ALSO, when I came to you, brethren, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring to you the testimony of God. ² For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. ³ And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. ⁴ And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of man's wisdom, but with demonstration of the Spirit and of power; ⁵ that your faith might not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

²⁰ O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding the profane babblings, and oppositions of that which is falsely called knowledge;

¹³ Which things also we speak, not in words taught by man's wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

⁹ But avoid foolish questionings, and genealogies, and strifes, and contentions about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. ¹⁰ A man that causes divisions, after a first and second admonition, avoid;

⁸ Beware lest there shall be any one that despoils you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
