²² But flee youthful lusts; and follow righteousness, faith, love, peace, with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

¹ BECOME therefore followers of God, as beloved children

²³ No longer drink water only, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake, and for thy frequent infirmities.

² that ye no longer may live the remaining time in the flesh by the lusts of men, but by the will of God.

¹⁶ But I say, walk by the Spirit, and ye will not fulfill the desire of the flesh.

¹³ For ye were called unto liberty, brethren; only use not the liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

⁴ Ye adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore desires to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

³ For the time past suffices us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in wantonness, lusts, excess of wine, revelings, carousings, and unhallowed idolatries;

² And be not conformed to this world; but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may discern what is the will of God, the good, and well pleasing, and perfect.

¹³ Let us walk becomingly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in lewdness and wantonness, not in strife and envying; ¹⁴ but put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

¹⁰ For do I now seek the favor of men or of God? Or am I seeking to please men? If I were still pleasing men, I should not be Christ's servant.

¹⁵ See to it then, how ye walk with exactness, not as unwise, but as wise, ¹⁶ redeeming the time, because the days are evil. ¹⁷ Therefore be not foolish, but understanding what is the will of the Lord. ¹⁸ And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess, but be filled with the Spirit; ¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are manifest; which are, fornication, uncleanness, wantonness, ²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, strife, emulation, wraths, contentions, divisions, factions, ²¹ envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings; and things like these; of which I tell you beforehand, as I also said before, that they who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
