⁴² And evening having now come, since it was the preparation (which is the day before the sabbath), ⁴³ Joseph from Arimathaea, an honorable counselor, who also was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, came and went in boldly to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus. ⁴⁴ And Pilate marveled, if he were already dead; and calling to him the centurion, he asked him if he had been long dead. ⁴⁵ And having learned it from the centurion, he gave the dead body to Joseph. ⁴⁶ And having bought fine linen, and taken him down, he wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone to the door of the sepulchre. ⁴⁷ And Mary the Magdalene, and Mary the mother of Joses, beheld where he was laid.
