Bible verses about "adornment" | ABU

1 Peter 3:1-6

1 IN like manner, ye wives, being in subjection to your own husbands; that even if any obey not the word, they may without the word be won by the deportment of their wives, 2 when they behold your chaste deportment coupled with fear. 3 Whose adorning, let it not be the outward one of braiding the hair, and of wearing golden ornaments, or of putting on apparel; 4 but the hidden man of the heart, in that which is imperishable of the meek and quiet spirit, which in the sight of God is of great price. 5 For so in the old time the holy women also, who hoped in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands, 6 (as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord; of whom ye became children,) doing good, and fearing no alarm.

Matthew 6:25-33

25 For this cause I say to you, take not thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the birds of the air, that they sow not, nor reap, nor gather into barns; and your heavenly Father feeds them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 And which of you by taking thought can add one cubit to his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They toil not, nor spin; 29 and I say to you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 And if God so clothes the grass of the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, will he not much more you, ye of little faith? 31 Take not thought therefore, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewith shall we be clothed? 32 For after all these do the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that ye have need of all these. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these shall be added to you.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

19 Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom ye have from God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.

1 Timothy 2:9-10

9 in like manner also that women, in becoming apparel, adorn themselves with modesty and sobriety; not in braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly raiment; 10 but, which becomes women professing godliness, by means of good works.

1 Peter 3:3-4

3 Whose adorning, let it not be the outward one of braiding the hair, and of wearing golden ornaments, or of putting on apparel; 4 but the hidden man of the heart, in that which is imperishable of the meek and quiet spirit, which in the sight of God is of great price.
