Nehemiah 13:15-31 In those days I saw in Judah some treading wine presses on the sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and loading them on donkeys; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day when they sold food.

15 H3117 In those days H7200 [H8804] I saw H3063 in Judah H1869 [H8802] some treading H1660 wine presses H7676 on the sabbath, H935 [H8688] and bringing in H6194 sheaves, H6006 [H8802] and loading them on H2543 donkeys; H3196 as also wine, H6025 grapes, H8384 and figs, H4853 and all manner of burdens, H935 [H8688] which they brought H3389 into Jerusalem H7676 on the sabbath H3117 day: H5749 [H8686] and I testified H3117 against them in the day H4376 [H8800] when they sold H6718 food.

16 H3427 [H8804] There dwelt H6876 men of Tyre H935 [H8688] also in the city, who brought H1709 H1709 [H8675] fish, H4377 and all kinds of wares, H4376 [H8802] and sold H7676 on the sabbath H1121 to the sons H3063 of Judah, H3389 and in Jerusalem.

17 H7378 [H8799] Then I contended H2715 with the nobles H3063 of Judah, H559 [H8799] and said H7451 to them, What evil H1697 thing H6213 [H8802] is this that ye do, H2490 [H8764] and profane H7676 the sabbath H3117 day?

18 H6213 [H8804] Did H1 not your fathers H935 0 thus, and did H430 not our God H935 [H8686] bring H7451 all this evil H5892 upon us, and upon this city? H935 [H8686] yet ye bring H3254 [H8688] more H2740 burning anger H3478 upon Israel H2490 [H8763] by profaning H7676 the sabbath.

19 H8179 And it came to pass, that when the gates H3389 of Jerusalem H6751 [H8804] began to be dark H6440 at the face of H7676 the sabbath, H559 [H8799] I commanded H1817 that the gates H5462 [H8735] should be shut, H559 [H8799] and charged H6605 [H8799] that they should not be opened H310 till after H7676 the sabbath: H5975 [H8689] and I set H5288 some of my servants H8179 at the gates, H4853 that there should no burden H935 [H8799] be brought in H7676 on the sabbath H3117 day.

20 H7402 [H8802] So the merchants H4376 [H8802] and sellers H4465 of all kind of wares H3885 [H8799] lodged H2351 outside of H3389 Jerusalem H6471 once H8147 or twice.

21 H5749 [H8686] Then I testified H559 [H8799] against them, and said H3885 [H8801] to them, Why lodge H5048 ye before H2346 the wall? H8138 [H8799] if ye do so again, H7971 [H8799] I will lay H3027 hands H6256 on you. From that time H935 [H8804] forth they came H7676 no more on the sabbath.

22 H559 [H8799] And I commanded H3881 the Levites H2891 [H8693] that they should cleanse H935 [H8802] themselves, and that they should come H8104 [H8802] and keep H8179 the gates, H6942 [H8763] to sanctify H7676 the sabbath H3117 day. H2142 [H8798] Remember H430 me, O my God, H2347 [H8798] concerning this also, and spare H7230 me according to the abundance H2617 of thy mercy.

23 H3117 In those days H7200 [H8804] also I saw H3064 Judeans H3427 [H8689] that had married H802 women H796 of Ashdod, H5984 of Ammon, H4125 and of Moab:

24 H1121 And their sons H1696 [H8764] spoke H2677 half H797 in the speech of Ashdod, H5234 [H8688] and could H1696 [H8763] not speak H3066 in the Judean's language, H3956 but according to the language H5971 of each H5971 people.

25 H7378 [H8799] And I contended H7043 [H8762] with them, and cursed H5221 [H8686] them, and smote H582 certain H4803 [H8799] of them, and plucked off their hair, H7650 [H8686] and made them swear H430 by God, H5414 [H8799] saying, Ye shall not give H1323 your daughters H1121 to their sons, H5375 [H8799] nor take H1323 their daughters H1121 to your sons, or for yourselves.

26 H8010 Did not Solomon H4428 king H3478 of Israel H2398 [H8804] sin H7227 by these things? yet among many H1471 nations H4428 was there no king H157 [H8803] like him, who was beloved H430 by his God, H430 and God H5414 [H8799] made H4428 him king H3478 over all Israel: H1571 nevertheless even him H5237 did foreign H802 women H2398 [H8689] cause to sin.

27 H8085 [H8799] Shall we then hearken H6213 [H8800] to you to do H1419 all this great H7451 evil, H4603 [H8800] to transgress H430 against our God H3427 [H8687] in marrying H5237 foreign H802 women?

28 H1121 And one of the sons H3111 of Joiada, H1121 the son H475 of Eliashib H1419 the high H3548 priest, H2860 was son in law H5571 to Sanballat H2772 the Horonite: H1272 [H8686] therefore I drove him away from me.

29 H2142 [H8798] Remember H430 them, O my God, H1352 because they have defiled H3550 the priesthood, H1285 and the covenant H3550 of the priesthood, H3881 and of the Levites.

30 H2891 [H8765] Thus I cleansed H5236 them from all foreigners, H5975 [H8686] and appointed H4931 the duties H3548 of the priests H3881 and the Levites, H376 every one H4399 in his business;

31 H6086 And for the wood H7133 offering, H6256 at times H2163 [H8794] appointed, H1061 and for the firstfruits. H2142 [H8798] Remember H430 me, O my God, H2896 for good.
