Exodus 5:1-23 And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast to me in the wilderness.

1 H310 And afterward H4872 Moses H175 and Aaron H935 [H8804] went in, H559 [H8799] and told H6547 Pharaoh, H559 [H8804] Thus saith H3068 the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel, H5971 Let my people H7971 [H8761] go, H2287 [H8799] that they may hold a feast H4057 to me in the wilderness.

2 H6547 And Pharaoh H559 [H8799] said, H3068 Who is the LORD, H8085 [H8799] that I should obey H6963 his voice H3478 to let Israel H7971 [H8763] go? H3045 [H8804] I know H3068 not the LORD, H3478 neither will I let Israel H7971 [H8762] go.

3 H559 [H8799] And they said, H430 The God H5680 of the Hebrews H7122 [H8738] hath met H3212 [H8799] with us: let us go, H7969 we pray thee, three H3117 days' H1870 journey H4057 into the desert, H2076 [H8799] and sacrifice H3068 to the LORD H430 our God; H6293 [H8799] lest he fall H1698 upon us with pestilence, H2719 or with the sword.

4 H4428 And the king H4714 of Egypt H559 [H8799] said H4872 to them, Why do ye, Moses H175 and Aaron, H6544 [H8686] loose H5971 the people H4639 from their works? H3212 [H8798] go H5450 to your burdens.

5 H6547 And Pharaoh H559 [H8799] said, H5971 Behold, the people H776 of the land H7227 now are many, H7673 [H8689] and ye make them rest H5450 from their burdens.

6 H6547 And Pharaoh H6680 [H8762] commanded H3117 the same day H5065 [H8802] the taskmasters H5971 of the people, H7860 [H8802] and their officers, H559 [H8800] saying,

7 H3254 [H8686] Ye shall no more H5414 [H8800] give H5971 the people H8401 straw H3835 [H8800] to make H3843 brick, H8032 H8543 as ereyesterday: H3212 [H8799] let them go H7197 [H8782] and gather H8401 straw for themselves.

8 H4971 And the number H3843 of the bricks, H6213 [H8802] which they made H8032 H8543 ereyesterday, H7760 [H8799] ye shall lay H1639 [H8799] upon them; ye shall not diminish H7503 [H8737] any of it: for they are idle; H6817 [H8802] therefore they shriek, H559 [H8800] saying, H3212 [H8799] Let us go H2076 [H8799] and sacrifice H430 to our God.

9 H5656 Let more work H3513 [H8799] be laid H582 upon the men, H6213 [H8799] that they may labour H8159 [H8799] in it; and let them not gaze H9003 on H8267 vain H1697 words.

10 H5065 [H8802] And the taskmasters H5971 of the people H3318 [H8799] went out, H7860 [H8802] and their officers, H559 [H8799] and they spoke H5971 to the people, H559 [H8800] saying, H559 [H8804] Thus saith H6547 Pharaoh, H5414 [H8802] I will not give H8401 you straw.

11 H3212 [H8798] Go H3947 [H8798] ye, get H8401 for yourselves straw H834 where H4672 [H8799] ye can find H3588 it: yet H1697 not any H5656 of your work H1639 [H8737] shall be diminished.

12 H5971 So the people H6327 [H8686] were scattered abroad H776 throughout all the land H4714 of Egypt H7197 [H8780] to gather H7179 stubble H8401 instead of straw.

13 H5065 [H8802] And the taskmasters H213 [H8801] hastened H559 [H8800] them, saying, H3615 [H8761] Fulfil H4639 your works, H3117 your daily H1697 tasks, H1961 [H8800] as when there was H8401 straw.

14 H7860 [H8802] And the officers H1121 of the sons H3478 of Israel, H6547 which Pharaoh's H5065 [H8802] taskmasters H7760 [H8804] had set H5221 [H8714] over them, were beaten, H559 [H8800] and demanded, H3615 [H8765] Why have ye not fulfilled H2706 your task H3835 [H8800] in making brick H8543 both yesterday H3117 and to day, H8032 H8543 as ereyesterday?

15 H7860 [H8802] Then the officers H1121 of the sons H3478 of Israel H935 [H8799] came H6817 [H8799] and shrieked H6547 to Pharaoh, H559 [H8800] saying, H6213 [H8799] Why dealest H5650 thou thus with thy servants?

16 H8401 There is no straw H5414 [H8737] given H5650 to thy servants, H559 [H8802] and they say H6213 [H8798] to us, Make H3843 brick: H5650 and, behold, thy servants H5221 [H8716] are beaten; H2398 [H8804] but the fault H5971 is in thy own people.

17 H559 [H8799] But he said, H7503 [H8737] Ye are idle, H7503 [H8737] ye are idle: H559 [H8802] therefore ye say, H3212 [H8799] Let us go H2076 [H8799] and sacrifice H3068 to the LORD.

18 H3212 [H8798] Go H5647 [H8798] therefore now, and work; H8401 for there shall no straw H5414 [H8735] be given H5414 [H8799] you, yet shall ye give H8506 the number H3843 of bricks.

19 H7860 [H8802] And the officers H1121 of the sons H3478 of Israel H7200 [H8799] saw H7451 that they were in trouble, H559 [H8800] after it was said, H1639 [H8799] Ye shall not diminish H3843 the number of your bricks H3117 of your daily H1697 task.

20 H6293 [H8799] And they met H4872 Moses H175 and Aaron, H5324 [H8737] who stood H7125 [H8800] in the way, H3318 [H8800] as they came forth H6547 from Pharaoh:

21 H559 [H8799] And they said H3068 to them, The LORD H7200 [H8799] look H8199 [H8799] upon you, and judge; H7381 H887 [H8689] because ye have made us odious H5869 in the eyes H6547 of Pharaoh, H5869 and in the eyes H5650 of his servants, H5414 [H8800] to put H2719 a sword H3027 in their hands H2026 [H8800] to slay us.

22 H4872 And Moses H7725 [H8799] returned H3068 to the LORD, H559 [H8799] and said, H136 Sovereign, H7489 [H8689] why hast thou so oppressed H5971 this people? H7971 [H8804] why is it that thou hast sent me?

23 H935 [H8804] For since I came H6547 to Pharaoh H1696 [H8763] to speak H8034 in thy name, H7489 [H8689] he hath done evil H5971 to this people; H5337 [H8689] neither hast thou delivered H5971 thy people H5337 [H8687] at all.
