Exodus 1:15-22

  15 H4428 And the king H4714 of Egypt H559 [H8799] spoke H5680 to the Hebrew H3205 [H8764] midwives, H8034 of which the name H259 of one H8236 was Shiphrah, H8034 and the name H8145 of the other H6326 Puah:

  16 H559 [H8799] And he said, H3205 [H8763] When ye do the office of a midwife H5680 to the Hebrew women, H7200 [H8804] and see H70 them upon the stools; H1121 if it shall be a son, H4191 [H8689] then ye shall kill H1323 him: but if it shall be a daughter, H2425 [H8804] then she shall live.

  17 H3205 [H8764] But the midwives H3372 [H8799] feared H430 God, H6213 [H8804] and did H4428 not as the king H4714 of Egypt H1696 [H8765] commanded H2421 0 them, but saved H3206 the males H2421 [H8762] alive.

  18 H4428 And the king H4714 of Egypt H7121 [H8799] called H3205 [H8764] for the midwives, H559 [H8799] and said H4069 to them, Why H6213 [H8804] have ye done H1697 this thing, H2421 0 and have saved H3206 the males H2421 [H8762] alive?

  19 H3205 [H8764] And the midwives H559 [H8799] said H6547 to Pharaoh, H5680 Because the Hebrew H802 women H4713 are not as the Egyptian women; H2422 for they are lively, H3205 [H8804] and are delivered H2962 ere H3205 [H8764] the midwives H935 [H8799] come in to them.

  20 H430 Therefore God H3190 [H8686] dealt well H3205 [H8764] with the midwives: H5971 and the people H7235 [H8799] multiplied, H3966 and became very H6105 [H8799] mighty.

  21 H3205 [H8764] And it came to pass, because the midwives H3372 [H8804] feared H430 God, H6213 [H8799] that he gave H1004 them families.

  22 H6547 And Pharaoh H6680 [H8762] charged H5971 all his people, H559 [H8800] saying, H1121 Every son H3209 that is born H7993 [H8686] ye shall cast H2975 into the river, H1323 and every daughter H2421 [H8762] ye shall save alive.
