2 Samuel 1:2-16 It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes torn, and soil upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and bowed down.

3 H1732 And David H559 [H8799] said H935 [H8799] to him, From where comest H559 [H8799] thou? And he said H4264 to him, Out of the camp H3478 of Israel H4422 [H8738] have I escaped.

4 H1732 And David H559 [H8799] said H4100 to him, How H1697 went the matter? H5046 [H8685] I pray thee, tell H559 [H8799] me. And he answered, H5971 That the people H5127 [H8804] have fled H4421 from the battle, H7235 [H8687] and many H5971 of the people H5307 [H8804] also have fallen H4191 [H8799] and are dead; H7586 and Saul H3083 and Jonathan H1121 his son H4191 [H8804] are dead also.

5 H1732 And David H559 [H8799] said H5288 to the young man H5046 [H8688] that told H3045 [H8804] him, How knowest H7586 thou that Saul H3083 and Jonathan H1121 his son H4191 [H8804] are dead?

6 H5288 And the young man H5046 [H8688] that told H559 [H8799] him said, H7136 [H8738] As I happened H7122 [H8736] by chance H2022 upon mount H1533 Gilboa, H7586 behold, Saul H8172 [H8737] leaned H2595 upon his spear; H7393 and, lo, the chariots H1167 H6571 and horsemen H1692 [H8689] followed hard after him.

7 H6437 [H8799] And when he looked H310 behind H7200 [H8799] him, he saw H7121 [H8799] me, and called H559 [H8799] to me. And I answered, Here am I.

8 H559 [H8799] And he said H559 [H8799] to me, Who art thou? And I answered H6003 him, I am an Amalekite.

9 H559 [H8799] He said H5975 [H8798] to me again, Stand, H4191 [H8786] I pray thee, upon me, and slay H7661 me: for anguish H270 [H8804] is come H5315 upon me, because my life is yet whole in me.

10 H5975 [H8799] So I stood H4191 [H8787] upon him, and slew H3045 [H8804] him, because I was sure H2421 [H8799] that he could not live H310 after H5307 [H8800] that he had fallen: H3947 [H8799] and I took H5145 the crown H7218 that was upon his head, H685 and the bracelet H2220 that was on his arm, H935 [H8686] and have brought H113 them here to my sovereign.

11 H1732 Then David H2388 [H8686] took hold H899 on his clothes, H7167 [H8799] and tore H582 them; and likewise all the men that were with him:

12 H5594 [H8799] And they mourned, H1058 [H8799] and wept, H6684 [H8799] and fasted H6153 until evening, H7586 for Saul, H3083 and for Jonathan H1121 his son, H5971 and for the people H3068 of the LORD, H1004 and for the house H3478 of Israel; H5307 [H8804] because they had fallen H2719 by the sword.

13 H1732 And David H559 [H8799] said H5288 to the young man H5046 [H8688] that told H559 [H8799] him, From where art thou? And he answered, H1121 I am the son H376 of a man H1616 who is a guest, H6003 an Amalekite.

14 H1732 And David H559 [H8799] said H3372 [H8804] to him, How wast thou not afraid H7971 [H8800] to stretch forth H3027 thine hand H7843 [H8763] to decay H3068 the LORD'S H4899 anointed?

15 H1732 And David H7121 [H8799] called H259 one H5288 of the young men, H559 [H8799] and said, H5066 [H8798] Go near, H6293 [H8798] and fall H5221 [H8686] upon him. And he smote H4191 [H8799] him that he died.

16 H1732 And David H559 [H8799] said H1818 to him, Thy blood H7218 be upon thy head; H6310 for thy mouth H6030 [H8804] hath testified H559 [H8800] against thee, saying, H4191 [H8790] I have slain H3068 the LORD'S H4899 anointed.
