2 Samuel 15:1-18

  1 H310 And it came to pass after this, H53 that Absalom H6213 [H8799] prepared H4818 him chariots H5483 and horses, H2572 and fifty H376 men H7323 [H8801] to run H6440 at the face of him.

  2 H53 And Absalom H7925 [H8689] rose early, H5975 [H8804] and stood H3027 beside H1870 the way H8179 of the gate: H376 and it was so, that when any man H7379 that had a controversy H935 [H8800] came H4428 to the king H4941 for judgment, H53 then Absalom H7121 [H8799] called H559 [H8799] to him, and said, H335 Of what H5892 city H559 [H8799] art thou? And he said, H5650 Thy servant H259 is one H7626 of the tribes H3478 of Israel.

  3 H53 And Absalom H559 [H8799] said H7200 [H8798] to him, See, H1697 thy matters H2896 are good H5228 and right; H4428 but there is no man deputed by the king H8085 [H8802] to hear thee.

  4 H53 Absalom H559 [H8799] said H7760 [H8799] moreover, O that I were made H8199 [H8802] judge H776 in the land, H376 that every man H7379 who hath any suit H4941 or cause H935 [H8799] might come H6663 [H8689] to me, and I would do him justice!

  5 H376 And it was so, that when any man H7126 [H8800] came near H7812 [H8692] to him to bow down, H7971 [H8804] he put forth H3027 his hand, H2388 [H8689] and took H5401 [H8804] him, and kissed him.

  6 H1697 And in this manner H6213 [H8799] did H53 Absalom H3478 to all Israel H935 [H8799] that came H4428 to the king H4941 for judgment: H53 so Absalom H1589 [H8762] stole H3820 the hearts H582 of the men H3478 of Israel.

  7 H7093 And it came to pass after H705 forty H8141 years, H53 that Absalom H559 [H8799] said H4428 to the king, H3212 [H8799] I pray thee, let me go H7999 [H8762] and pay H5088 my vow, H5087 [H8804] which I have vowed H3068 to the LORD, H2275 in Hebron.

  8 H5650 For thy servant H5087 [H8804] vowed H5088 a vow H3427 [H8800] while I abode H1650 at Geshur H758 in Syria, H559 [H8800] saying, H3068 If the LORD H7725 H7725 [H8799] shall bring me again H3389 indeed to Jerusalem, H5647 [H8804] then I will serve H3068 the LORD.

  9 H4428 And the king H559 [H8799] said H3212 [H8798] to him, Go H7965 in peace. H6965 [H8799] So he arose, H3212 [H8799] and went H2275 to Hebron.

  10 H53 But Absalom H7971 [H8799] sent H7270 [H8764] spies H7626 throughout all the tribes H3478 of Israel, H559 [H8800] saying, H8085 [H8800] As soon as ye hear H6963 the sound H7782 of the shofar, H559 [H8804] then ye shall say, H53 Absalom H4427 [H8804] reigneth H2275 in Hebron.

  11 H53 And with Absalom H1980 [H8804] went H3967 two hundred H376 men H3389 from Jerusalem, H7121 [H8803] that were invited; H1980 [H8802] and they went H8537 in their simplicity, H3045 [H8804] and they knew H1697 not any thing.

  12 H53 And Absalom H7971 [H8799] sent H302 for Ahithophel H1526 the Gilonite, H1732 David's H3289 [H8802] counsellor, H5892 from his city, H1542 even from Giloh, H2076 [H8800] while he offered H2077 sacrifices. H7195 And the conspiracy H533 was strong; H5971 for the people H7227 increased H1980 [H8802] continually H53 with Absalom.

  13 H935 [H8799] And there came H5046 [H8688] a messenger H1732 to David, H559 [H8800] saying, H3820 The hearts H376 of the men H3478 of Israel H310 are after H53 Absalom.

  14 H1732 And David H559 [H8799] said H5650 to all his servants H3389 that were with him at Jerusalem, H6965 [H8798] Arise, H1272 [H8799] and let us flee; H6413 for we shall not else escape H6440 from H53 Absalom: H4116 [H8761] make speed H3212 [H8800] to depart, H5381 [H8689] lest he should overtake H4116 [H8762] us suddenly, H5080 [H8689] and bring H7451 evil H5221 [H8689] upon us, and smite H5892 the city H6310 with the edge H2719 of the sword.

  15 H4428 And the king's H5650 servants H559 [H8799] said H4428 to the king, H5650 Behold, thy servants H113 are ready to do whatever my sovereign H4428 the king H977 [H8799] shall appoint.

  16 H4428 And the king H3318 [H8799] went forth, H1004 and all his household H7272 after H4428 him. And the king H5800 [H8799] left H6235 ten H802 women, H6370 who were concubines, H8104 [H8800] to keep H1004 the house.

  17 H4428 And the king H3318 [H8799] went forth, H5971 and all the people H7272 after H5975 [H8799] him, and tarried H1004 in a place H4801 H1023 [H8677] that was far off.

  18 H5650 And all his servants H5674 [H8802] passed on H3027 by H3774 his side; and all the Cherethites, H6432 and all the Pelethites, H1663 and all the Gittites, H8337 six H3967 hundred H376 men H935 [H8804] who came H7272 after H1661 him from Gath, H5674 [H8802] passed on H6440 at the face of H4428 the king.
