2 Samuel 11:16-25

  16 H3097 And it came to pass, when Joab H8104 [H8800] observed H5892 the city, H5414 [H8799] that he assigned H223 Uriah H4725 to a place H3045 [H8804] where he knew H2428 that valiant H582 men were.

  17 H582 And the men H5892 of the city H3318 [H8799] went out, H3898 [H8735] and fought H3097 with Joab: H5307 [H8799] and there fell H5971 some of the people H5650 of the servants H1732 of David; H223 and Uriah H2850 the Hittite H4191 [H8799] died also.

  18 H3097 Then Joab H7971 [H8799] sent H5046 [H8686] and told H1732 David H1697 all the things H4421 concerning the war;

  19 H6680 [H8762] And charged H4397 the messenger, H559 [H8800] saying, H3615 [H8763] When thou hast finished H1696 [H8763] telling H1697 the matters H4421 of the war H4428 to the king,

  20 H4428 And if the king's H2534 hot anger H5927 [H8799] shall rise, H559 [H8804] and he shall say H5066 [H8738] to thee, Why approached ye so near H5892 to the city H3898 [H8736] for the fight? H3045 [H8804] knew H3384 [H8686] ye not that they would shoot H2346 from the wall?

  21 H5221 [H8689] Who smote H40 Abimelech H1121 the son H3380 of Jerubbesheth? H802 did not a woman H7993 [H8689] cast H6400 a piece H7393 of a millstone H2346 upon him from the wall, H4191 [H8799] that he died H8405 in Thebez? H5066 [H8738] why went ye near H2346 the wall? H559 [H8804] then say H5650 thou, Thy servant H223 Uriah H2850 the Hittite H4191 [H8804] is dead also.

  22 H4397 So the messenger H3212 [H8799] went, H935 [H8799] and came H5046 [H8686] and showed H1732 David H3097 all that Joab H7971 [H8804] had sent him for.

  23 H4397 And the messenger H559 [H8799] said H1732 to David, H582 Surely the men H1396 [H8804] prevailed H3318 [H8799] against us, and came out H7704 to us into the field, H6607 and we were upon them even to the entrance H8179 of the gate.

  24 H3384 [H8688] And the shooters H3384 [H8686] shot H2346 from off the wall H5650 upon thy servants; H4428 and some of the king's H5650 servants H4191 [H8799] are dead, H5650 and thy servant H223 Uriah H2850 the Hittite H4191 [H8804] is dead also.

  25 H1732 Then David H559 [H8799] said H4397 to the messenger, H559 [H8799] Thus shalt thou say H3097 to Joab, H1697 Let not this thing H3415 H5869 [H8799] displease H2719 thee, for the sword H398 [H8799] devoureth H2090 one as well as another: H4421 make thy battle H2388 [H8685] more strong H5892 against the city, H2040 [H8798] and overthrow H2388 [H8761] it: and encourage thou him.
