2 Kings 8 Then Elisha spoke to the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thy household, and sojourn wherever thou canst sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.

1 H477 Then Elisha H1696 [H8765] spoke H802 to the woman, H1121 whose son H2421 [H8689] he had restored to life, H559 [H8800] saying, H6965 [H8798] Arise, H3212 [H8798] and go H1004 thou and thy household, H1481 [H8798] and sojourn H834 wherever H1481 [H8799] thou canst sojourn: H3068 for the LORD H7121 [H8804] hath called H7458 for a famine; H935 [H8804] and it shall also come H776 upon the land H7651 seven H8141 years.

2 H802 And the woman H6965 [H8799] arose, H6213 [H8799] and did H1697 according to the saying H376 of the man H430 of God: H3212 [H8799] and she went H1004 with her household, H1481 [H8799] and sojourned H776 in the land H6430 of the Philistines H7651 seven H8141 years.

3 H7651 And it came to pass at the seven H8141 years' H7097 end, H802 that the woman H7725 [H8799] returned H776 from the land H6430 of the Philistines: H3318 [H8799] and she went forth H6817 [H8800] to shriek H4428 to the king H1004 for her house H7704 and for her land.

4 H4428 And the king H1696 [H8764] talked H1522 with Gehazi H5288 the servant H376 of the man H430 of God, H559 [H8800] saying, H5608 [H8761] Tell H1419 me, I pray thee, all the great things H477 that Elisha H6213 [H8804] hath done.

5 H5608 [H8764] And it came to pass, as he was telling H4428 the king H2421 0 how he had restored H4191 [H8801] the dead H2421 [H8689] to life, H802 that, behold, the woman, H1121 whose son H2421 [H8689] he had restored to life, H6817 [H8802] shrieked H4428 to the king H1004 for her house H7704 and for her land. H1522 And Gehazi H559 [H8799] said, H113 My sovereign, H4428 O king, H802 this is the woman, H1121 and this is her son, H477 whom Elisha H2421 [H8689] restored to life.

6 H4428 And when the king H7592 [H8799] asked H802 the woman, H5608 [H8762] she told H4428 him. So the king H5414 [H8799] appointed H259 to her a certain H5631 officer, H559 [H8800] saying, H7725 [H8685] Restore H8393 all that was hers, and all the fruits H7704 of the field H3117 since the day H5800 [H8800] that she left H776 the land, even till now.

7 H477 And Elisha H935 [H8799] came H1834 to Damascus; H1130 and Benhadad H4428 the king H758 of Syria H2470 [H8802] was sick; H5046 [H8714] and it was told H559 [H8800] to him, saying, H376 The man H430 of God H935 [H8804] hath come H2008 here.

8 H4428 And the king H559 [H8799] said H2371 to Hazael, H3947 [H8798] Take H4503 a present H3027 in thine hand, H3212 [H8798] and go, H7125 [H8800] meet H376 the man H430 of God, H1875 [H8804] and enquire H3068 of the LORD H559 [H8800] by him, saying, H2421 [H8799] Shall I recover H2483 of this disease?

9 H2371 So Hazael H3212 [H8799] went H7125 [H8800] to meet H3947 [H8799] him, and took H4503 a present H3027 with him, H2898 even of every good thing H1834 of Damascus, H705 forty H1581 camels' H4853 burden, H935 [H8799] and came H5975 [H8799] and stood H6440 at the face of H559 [H8799] him, and said, H1121 Thy son H1130 Benhadad H4428 king H758 of Syria H7971 [H8804] hath sent H559 [H8800] me to thee, saying, H2421 [H8799] Shall I recover H2483 of this disease?

10 H477 And Elisha H559 [H8799] said H3212 [H8798] to him, Go, H559 [H8798] say H2421 [H8800] to him, Thou mayest certainly H2421 [H8799] recover: H3068 but the LORD H7200 [H8689] hath showed H4191 [H8800] me that he shall surely H4191 [H8799] die.

11 H5975 [H8686] And he settled H6440 his face H7760 [H8799] steadfastly, H954 [H8800] until he was pale: H376 and the man H430 of God H1058 [H8799] wept.

12 H2371 And Hazael H559 [H8799] said, H1058 [H8802] Why weepeth H113 my sovereign? H559 [H8799] And he answered, H3045 [H8804] Because I know H7451 the evil H6213 [H8799] that thou wilt do H1121 to the sons H3478 of Israel: H4013 their strong holds H7971 [H8762] wilt thou set H784 on fire, H970 and their young men H2026 [H8799] wilt thou slay H2719 with the sword, H7376 [H8762] and wilt dash H5768 their children, H1234 [H8762] and rip up H2030 their women with child.

13 H2371 And Hazael H559 [H8799] said, H5650 But what, is thy servant H3611 a dog, H6213 [H8799] that he should do H1419 this great H1697 thing? H477 And Elisha H559 [H8799] answered, H3068 The LORD H7200 [H8689] hath shown H4428 me that thou shalt be king H758 over Syria.

14 H3212 [H8799] So he departed H477 from Elisha, H935 [H8799] and came H113 to his master; H559 [H8799] who said H559 [H8804] to him, What said H477 Elisha H559 [H8799] to thee? And he answered, H559 [H8804] He told H2421 [H8800] me that thou shouldest surely H2421 [H8799] recover.

15 H4283 And it came to pass on the next day, H3947 [H8799] that he took H4346 a thick cloth, H2881 [H8799] and dipped H4325 it in water, H6566 [H8799] and spread H6440 it on his face, H4191 [H8799] so that he died: H2371 and Hazael H4427 [H8799] reigned in his stead.

16 H2568 And in the fifth H8141 year H3141 of Joram H1121 the son H256 of Ahab H4428 king H3478 of Israel, H3092 Jehoshaphat H4428 being then king H3063 of Judah, H3088 Jehoram H1121 the son H3092 of Jehoshaphat H4428 king H3063 of Judah H4427 [H8804] began to reign.

17 H7970 Thirty H8147 and two H8141 years H1121 old H4427 [H8800] was he when he began to reign; H4427 [H8804] and he reigned H8083 eight H8141 years H3389 in Jerusalem.

18 H3212 [H8799] And he walked H1870 in the way H4428 of the kings H3478 of Israel, H6213 [H8804] as did H1004 the house H256 of Ahab: H1323 for the daughter H256 of Ahab H802 was his wife: H6213 [H8799] and he did H7451 evil H5869 in the eyes H3068 of the LORD.

19 H3068 Yet the LORD H14 [H8804] would H7843 [H8687] not decay H3063 Judah H1732 for David H5650 his servant's H559 [H8804] sake, as he promised H5414 [H8800] him to give H3117 him always H5216 a light, H1121 and to his sons.

20 H3117 In his days H123 Edom H6586 [H8804] revolted H3027 from under the hand H3063 of Judah, H4427 [H8686] and made H4428 a king over themselves.

21 H3141 So Joram H5674 [H8799] went over H6811 to Zair, H7393 and all the chariots H6965 [H8804] with him: and he rose H3915 by night, H5221 [H8686] and smote H123 the Edomites H5437 [H8802] who surrounded H8269 him, and the captains H7393 of the chariots: H5971 and the people H5127 [H8799] fled H168 into their tents.

22 H123 Yet Edom H6586 [H8799] revolted H3027 from under the hand H3063 of Judah H3117 to this day. H3841 Then Libnah H6586 [H8799] revolted H1931 at the same H6256 time.

23 H3499 And the rest H1697 of the acts H3141 of Joram, H6213 [H8804] and all that he did, H3789 [H8803] are they not written H5612 in the book H1697 H3117 of the chronicles H4428 of the kings H3063 of Judah?

24 H3141 And Joram H7901 [H8799] slept H1 with his fathers, H6912 [H8735] and was buried H1 with his fathers H5892 in the city H1732 of David: H274 and Ahaziah H1121 his son H4427 [H8799] reigned in his stead.

25 H8147 H6240 H8141 In the twelfth H8141 year H3141 of Joram H1121 the son H256 of Ahab H4428 king H3478 of Israel H274 did Ahaziah H1121 the son H3088 of Jehoram H4428 king H3063 of Judah H4427 [H8804] begin to reign.

26 H8147 Two H6242 and twenty H8141 years H1121 old H274 was Ahaziah H4427 [H8800] when he began to reign; H4427 [H8804] and he reigned H259 one H8141 year H3389 in Jerusalem. H517 And his mother's H8034 name H6271 was Athaliah, H1323 the daughter H6018 of Omri H4428 king H3478 of Israel.

27 H3212 [H8799] And he walked H1870 in the way H1004 of the house H256 of Ahab, H6213 [H8799] and did H7451 evil H5869 in the eyes H3068 of the LORD, H1004 as did the house H256 of Ahab: H2860 for he was the son in law H1004 of the house H256 of Ahab.

28 H3212 [H8799] And he went H3141 with Joram H1121 the son H256 of Ahab H4421 to the war H2371 against Hazael H4428 king H758 of Syria H7433 H1568 in Ramothgilead; H761 and the Syrians H5221 [H8686] wounded H3141 Joram.

29 H4428 And king H3141 Joram H7725 [H8799] went back H7495 [H8692] to be healed H3157 in Jezreel H4347 of the wounds H761 which the Syrians H5221 [H8686] had given H7414 him at Ramah, H3898 [H8736] when he fought H2371 against Hazael H4428 king H758 of Syria. H274 And Ahaziah H1121 the son H3088 of Jehoram H4428 king H3063 of Judah H3381 [H8804] went down H7200 [H8800] to see H3141 Joram H1121 the son H256 of Ahab H3157 in Jezreel, H2470 [H8802] because he was sick.
