2 Kings 22 Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah of Boscath.

2 H6213 [H8799] And he did H3477 that which was right H5869 in the eyes H3068 of the LORD, H3212 [H8799] and walked H1870 in all the way H1732 of David H1 his father, H5493 [H8804] and turned not aside H3225 to the right hand H8040 or to the left.

3 H8083 H6240 And it came to pass in the eighteenth H8141 year H4428 of king H2977 Josiah, H4428 that the king H7971 [H8804] sent H8227 Shaphan H1121 the son H683 of Azaliah, H1121 the son H4918 of Meshullam, H5608 [H8802] the scribe, H1004 to the house H3068 of the LORD, H559 [H8800] saying,

4 H5927 [H8798] Go H2518 to Hilkiah H1419 the high H3548 priest, H8552 [H8686] that he may sum H3701 the silver H935 [H8716] which is brought H1004 into the house H3068 of the LORD, H8104 [H8802] which the keepers H5592 of the door H622 [H8804] have gathered H5971 from the people:

5 H5414 [H8799] And let them give H3027 it into the hand H6213 [H8802] of the doers H4399 of the work, H6485 [H8716] that have the oversight H1004 of the house H3068 of the LORD: H5414 [H8799] and let them give H6213 [H8802] it to the doers H4399 of the work H1004 which is in the house H3068 of the LORD, H2388 [H8763] to repair H919 the breaches H1004 of the house,

6 H2796 To carpenters, H1129 [H8802] and builders, H1443 [H8802] and masons, H7069 [H8800] and to buy H6086 timber H4274 and hewn H68 stone H2388 [H8763] to repair H1004 the house.

7 H2803 [H8735] But there was no reckoning made H3701 with them of the money H5414 [H8737] that was given H3027 into their hand, H6213 [H8802] because they dealt H530 faithfully.

8 H2518 And Hilkiah H1419 the high H3548 priest H559 [H8799] said H8227 to Shaphan H5608 [H8802] the scribe, H4672 [H8804] I have found H5612 the book H8451 of the law H1004 in the house H3068 of the LORD. H2518 And Hilkiah H5414 [H8799] gave H5612 the book H8227 to Shaphan, H7121 [H8799] and he read it.

9 H8227 And Shaphan H5608 [H8802] the scribe H935 [H8799] came H4428 to the king, H7725 0 and brought H4428 the king H1697 word H7725 [H8686] again, H559 [H8799] and said, H5650 Thy servants H5413 [H8689] have gathered H3701 the money H4672 [H8737] that was found H1004 in the house, H5414 [H8799] and have given H3027 it into the hand H6213 [H8802] of them that do H4399 the work, H6485 [H8716] that have the oversight H1004 of the house H3068 of the LORD.

10 H8227 And Shaphan H5608 [H8802] the scribe H5046 [H8686] showed H4428 the king, H559 [H8800] saying, H2518 Hilkiah H3548 the priest H5414 [H8804] hath given H5612 me a book. H8227 And Shaphan H7121 [H8799] read H6440 it at the face of H4428 the king.

11 H4428 And it came to pass, when the king H8085 [H8800] had heard H1697 the words H5612 of the book H8451 of the law, H7167 [H8799] that he tore H899 his clothes.

12 H4428 And the king H6680 [H8762] commanded H2518 Hilkiah H3548 the priest, H296 and Ahikam H1121 the son H8227 of Shaphan, H5907 and Achbor H1121 the son H4320 of Michaiah, H8227 and Shaphan H5608 [H8802] the scribe, H6222 and Asahiah H5650 a servant H4428 of the king's, H559 [H8800] saying,

13 H3212 [H8798] Go H1875 [H8798] ye, enquire H3068 of the LORD H5971 for me, and for the people, H3063 and for all Judah, H1697 concerning the words H5612 of this book H4672 [H8737] that is found: H1419 for great H2534 is the hot anger H3068 of the LORD H3341 [H8738] that is kindled H1 against us, because our fathers H8085 [H8804] have not hearkened H1697 to the words H5612 of this book, H6213 [H8800] to do H3789 [H8803] according to all that which is written concerning us.

14 H2518 So Hilkiah H3548 the priest, H296 and Ahikam, H5907 and Achbor, H8227 and Shaphan, H6222 and Asahiah, H3212 [H8799] went H2468 to Huldah H5031 the prophetess, H802 the wife H7967 of Shallum H1121 the son H8616 of Tikvah, H1121 the son H2745 of Harhas, H8104 [H8802] keeper H899 of the wardrobe; H3427 [H8802] (now she dwelt H3389 in Jerusalem H4932 in the second quarter; H1696 [H8762] ) and they talked with her.

15 H559 [H8799] And she said H559 [H8804] to them, Thus saith H3068 the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel, H559 [H8798] Tell H376 the man H7971 [H8804] that sent you to me,

16 H559 [H8804] Thus saith H3068 the LORD, H935 [H8688] Behold, I will bring H7451 evil H4725 upon this place, H3427 [H8802] and upon its inhabitants, H1697 even all the words H5612 of the book H4428 which the king H3063 of Judah H7121 [H8804] hath read:

17 H5800 [H8804] Because they have forsaken H6999 [H8762] me, and have burned incense H312 to other H430 gods, H3707 [H8687] that they might provoke me to anger H4639 with all the works H3027 of their hands; H2534 therefore my hot anger H3341 [H8738] shall be kindled H4725 against this place, H3518 [H8799] and shall not be quenched.

18 H4428 But to the king H3063 of Judah H7971 [H8802] who sent H1875 [H8800] you to enquire H3068 of the LORD, H559 [H8799] thus shall ye say H559 [H8804] to him, Thus saith H3068 the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel, H1697 concerning the words H8085 [H8804] which thou hast heard;

19 H3824 Because thy heart H7401 [H8804] was tender, H3665 [H8735] and thou hast humbled H6440 thyself at the face of H3068 the LORD, H8085 [H8800] when thou heardest H1696 [H8765] what I spoke H4725 against this place, H3427 [H8802] and against its inhabitants, H8047 that they should become a desolation H7045 and a curse, H7167 [H8799] and hast torn H899 thy clothes, H1058 [H8799] and wept H6440 at the face of H8085 [H8804] me; I also have heard H5002 [H8803] thee, saith H3068 the LORD.

20 H622 [H8802] Behold therefore, I will gather H1 thee to thy fathers, H622 [H8738] and thou shalt be gathered H6913 into thy burying-place H7965 in peace; H5869 and thine eyes H7200 [H8799] shall not see H7451 all the evil H935 [H8688] which I will bring H4725 upon this place. H7725 0 And they brought H4428 the king H1697 word H7725 [H8686] again.
