3 H29 And Abijah H631 0 set H4421 the battle H631 [H8799] in array H2428 with an army H1368 of valiant men H4421 of war, H702 even four H3967 hundred H505 thousand H977 [H8803] chosen H376 men: H3379 Jeroboam H4421 also set the battle H6186 [H8804] in array H8083 against him with eight H3967 hundred H505 thousand H977 [H8803] chosen H376 men, H1368 being mighty men H2428 of valour.

4 H29 And Abijah H6965 [H8799] stood H2022 upon mount H6787 Zemaraim, H2022 which is in mount H669 Ephraim, H559 [H8799] and said, H8085 [H8798] Hear H3379 me, thou Jeroboam, H3478 and all Israel;

5 H3045 [H8800] Ought ye not to know H3068 that the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H5414 [H8804] gave H4467 the kingdom H3478 over Israel H1732 to David H5769 to the age, H1121 even to him and to his sons H1285 by a covenant H4417 of salt?

6 H3379 Yet Jeroboam H1121 the son H5028 of Nebat, H5650 the servant H8010 of Solomon H1121 the son H1732 of David, H6965 [H8799] hath risen up, H4775 [H8799] and hath rebelled H113 against his sovereign.

9 H5080 [H8689] Have ye not cast out H3548 the priests H3068 of the LORD, H1121 the sons H175 of Aaron, H3881 and the Levites, H6213 [H8799] and have appointed H3548 priests H5971 after the manner of the peoples H776 of other lands? H935 [H8802] so that whoever cometh H4390 H3027 [H8763] to consecrate H1121 H1241 himself with a young H6499 bull H7651 and seven H352 rams, H3548 the same may be a priest H3808 of them that are no H430 gods.

10 H3068 But as for us, the LORD H430 is our God, H5800 [H8804] and we have not forsaken H3548 him; and the priests, H8334 [H8764] who minister H3068 to the LORD, H1121 are the sons H175 of Aaron, H3881 and the Levites H4399 wait upon their business:

11 H6999 [H8688] And they burn H3068 to the LORD H1242 every morning H6153 and every evening H5930 burnt sacrifices H5561 and sweet H7004 incense: H3899 H4635 the showbread H2889 also they set in order upon the pure H7979 table; H4501 and the lampstand H2091 of gold H5216 with its lamps, H1197 [H8763] to burn H6153 every evening: H8104 [H8802] for we keep H4931 the charge H3068 of the LORD H430 our God; H5800 [H8804] but ye have forsaken him.

12 H430 And, behold, God H7218 himself is with us for our captain, H3548 and his priests H8643 with sounding H2689 trumpets H7321 [H8687] to shout alarm H1121 against you. O sons H3478 of Israel, H3898 [H8735] fight H3068 ye not against the LORD H430 God H1 of your fathers; H6743 [H8686] for ye shall not prosper.

13 H3379 But Jeroboam H3993 caused an ambush H935 [H8800] to come H5437 [H8689] about H310 behind H6440 them: so they were at the face of H3063 Judah, H3993 and the ambush H310 was behind them.

14 H3063 And when Judah H6437 [H8799] looked back, H4421 behold, the battle H6440 was at the face of H268 and behind: H6817 [H8799] and they shrieked H3068 to the LORD, H3548 and the priests H2690 H2690 [H8688] sounded H2689 with the trumpets.

15 H376 Then the men H3063 of Judah H7321 [H8686] gave a shout: H376 and as the men H3063 of Judah H7321 [H8687] shouted, H430 it came to pass, that God H5062 [H8804] smote H3379 Jeroboam H3478 and all Israel H6440 at the face of H29 Abijah H3063 and Judah.

16 H1121 And the sons H3478 of Israel H5127 [H8799] fled H6440 at the face of H3063 Judah: H430 and God H5414 [H8799] gave H3027 them into their hand.

17 H29 And Abijah H5971 and his people H5221 [H8686] slew H7227 them with a great H4347 slaughter: H5307 [H8799] so there fell down H2491 slain H3478 of Israel H2568 five H3967 hundred H505 thousand H977 [H8803] chosen H376 men.

18 H1121 Thus the sons H3478 of Israel H3665 [H8735] were subdued H6256 at that time, H1121 and the sons H3063 of Judah H553 [H8799] prevailed, H8172 [H8738] because they relied H3068 upon the LORD H430 God H1 of their fathers.

19 H29 And Abijah H7291 H310 [H8799] pursued H3379 Jeroboam, H3920 [H8799] and took H5892 cities H1008 from him, Bethel H1323 with its towns, H3466 and Jeshanah H1323 with its towns, H6085 and Ephrain H1323 with its towns.

20 H3379 Neither did Jeroboam H6113 [H8804] recover H3581 strength H3117 again in the days H29 of Abijah: H3068 and the LORD H5062 [H8799] struck H4191 [H8799] him, and he died.

21 H29 But Abijah H2388 [H8691] became mighty, H5375 [H8799] and married H702 H6240 fourteen H802 wives, H3205 [H8686] and begat H6242 twenty H8147 and two H1121 sons, H8337 H6240 and sixteen H1323 daughters.
