James 2:1-26

  2:1   80-1473 αδελφοί μου My brethren, 3361 μη [²no 1722 εν ⁴in 4382 προσωποληψίαις ³discrimination 2192 έχετε ¹have] 3588 την the 4102 πίστιν belief 3588 του   2962-1473 κυρίου ημών of our Lord * Ιησού Jesus 5547 χριστού Christ 3588 της of the 1391 δόξης glory!   2:2   1437-1063 εάν γαρ For if 1525 εισέλθη [²should enter 1519 εις ³into 3588 την   4864-1473 συναγωγήν υμών ⁴your gathering 435 ανήρ ¹a man] 5554 χρυσοδακτύλιος wearing gold rings 1722 εν in 2066 εσθήτι [²attire 2986 λαμπρά ¹bright], 1525-1161 εισέλθη δε and there should enter 2532 και also 4434 πτωχός a poor man 1722 εν in 4508 ρυπαρά filthy 2066 εσθήτι attire,   2:3   2532 και and 1914 επιβλέψητε you should look 1909 επί unto 3588 τον the one 5409 φορούντα wearing 3588 την the 2066 εσθήτα [²attire 3588 την   2986 λαμπράν ¹bright], 2532 και and 2036 είπητε should say 1473 αυτώ to him, 1473 συ You 2521 κάθου sit down 5602 ώδε here, 2573 καλώς well! 2532 και And 3588 τω to the 4434 πτωχώ poor man 2036 είπητε you should say, 1473 συ You 2476 στήθι stand 1563 εκεί there! 2228 η or, 2521 κάθου Sit down 5602 ώδε here 5259 υπό under 3588 του   5286 υποπόδιόν μου my footstool!   2:4   2532 και Then 3756 ου did you not 1252 διεκρίθητε discriminate 1722 εν among 1438 εαυτοίς yourselves, 2532 και and 1096 εγένεσθε became 2923 κριταί judges 1261 διαλογισμών [²thoughts 4190 πονηρών ¹of evil]?   2:5   191 ακούσατε Hearken, 80 αδελφοί [³brethren 1473 μου ¹my 27 αγαπητοί ²beloved]! 3756 ουχ Did not 3588 ο   2316 θεός God 1586 εξελέξατο choose 3588 τους the 4434 πτωχούς poor 3588 του   2889-3778 κόσμου τούτου of this world, 4145 πλουσίους rich 1722 εν in 4102 πίστει belief, 2532 και and 2818 κληρονόμους heirs 3588 της of the 932 βασιλείας kingdom 3739 ης of which 1861 επηγγείλατο he promised 3588 τοις to the ones 25 αγαπώσιν loving 1473 αυτόν him?   2:6   1473-1161 υμείς δε But you 818 ητιμάσατε dishonored 3588 τον the 4434 πτωχόν poor. 3756 ουχ Do not 3588 οι the 4145 πλούσιοι rich 2616 καταδυναστεύουσιν tyrannize over 1473 υμών you, 2532 και and 1473 αυτοί they 1670 έλκουσιν draw 1473 υμάς you 1519 εις to 2922 κριτήρια judgment seats?   2:7   3756 ουκ [³not 1473 αυτοί ²they 987 βλασφημούσι ¹Do] blaspheme 3588 το the 2570 καλόν good 3686 όνομα name, 3588 το the one 1941 επικληθέν [²are called 1909 εφ΄ ³by 1473 υμάς ¹you]?   2:8   1487 ει If 3305 μέντοι however 3551 νόμον [³law 5055 τελείτε ¹you fulfill 937 βασιλικόν ²the royal] 2596 κατά according to 3588 την the 1124 γραφήν scripture -- 25 αγαπήσεις You shall love 3588 τον   4139-1473 πλησίον σου your neighbor 5613 ως as 4572 σεαυτόν yourself; 2573 καλώς [²well 4160 ποιείτε ¹you do].   2:9   1487-1161 ει δε But if 4380 προσωποληπτείτε you discriminate because of appearance, 266 αμαρτίαν [²sin 2038 εργάζεσθε ¹you practice], 1651 ελεγχόμενοι being reproved 5259 υπό by 3588 του the 3551 νόμου law 5613 ως as 3848 παραβάται violators.   2:10   3748-1063 όστις γαρ For whoever 3650 όλον [²the entire 3588 τον   3551 νόμον ³law 5083 τηρήσει ¹shall give heed to], 4417-1161 πταίσει δε but shall be at fault 1722 εν in 1520 ενί one thing, 1096 γέγονε he has become 3956-1777 πάντων ένοχος liable of all.   2:11   3588-1063 ο γαρ For the one 2036 ειπών having said, 3361 μη You shall not 3431 μοιχεύσης commit adultery, 2036 είπε said 2532 και also, 3361 μη You shall not 5407 φονεύσης murder. 1487-1161 ει δε But if 3756 ου you shall not 3431 μοιχεύσεις commit adultery, 5407-1161 φονεύσεις δε but shall murder, 1096 γέγονας you have become 3848 παραβάτης a violator 3551 νόμου of the law.   2:12   3779 ούτω So 2980 λαλείτε speak 2532 και and 3779 ούτω so 4160 ποιείτε do 5613 ως as 1223 διά by 3551 νόμου the law 1657 ελευθερίας of freedom! 3195 μέλλοντες being about 2919 κρίνεσθαι to be judged.   2:13   3588 η   1063 γαρ For 2920 κρίσις judgment 448 ανίλεως is merciless 3588 τω to the one 3361 μη not 4160 ποιήσαντι having 1656 έλεος mercy, 2532 και and 2620 κατακαυχάται [²glories over 1656 έλεον ¹mercy] 2920 κρίσεως judgment.   2:14   5100 τι What is 3588 το the 3786 όφελος benefit, 80-1473 αδελφοί μου my brethren, 1437 εάν if 4102 πίστιν [⁴belief 3004 λέγη ²should say 5100 τις ¹anyone 2192 έχειν ³to have], 2041 έργα [⁵works 1161 δε ¹but 3361 μη ³not 2192 έχη ²should ⁴have]? 3361 μη Shall 1410 δύναται [³be able 3588 η ¹the 4102 πίστις ²belief] 4982 σώσαι to deliver 1473 αυτόν him?   2:15   1437-1161 εάν δε And if 80 αδελφός a brother 2228 η or 79 αδελφή sister 1131 γυμνοί [²naked 5224 υπάρχωσι ¹should be], 2532 και and 3007-1510.3 λειπόμενοι ώσι should be forsaken 3588 της of the 2184 εφημέρου daily 5160 τροφής nourishment,   2:16   2036-1161 είπη δε and [⁴should say 5100 τις ¹anyone 1473 αυτοίς ⁵to them 1537 εξ ²among 1473 υμών ³you], 5217 υπάγετε Go 1722 εν in 1515 ειρήνη peace, 2328 θερμαίνεσθε be warmed 2532 και and 5526 χορτάζεσθε filled! 3361 μη [²does not 1325 δώτε ³give 1161 δε ¹but] 1473 αυτοίς to them 3588 τα the things 2006 επιτήδεια needful 3588 του of the 4983 σώματος body, 5100 τι what is 3588 το the 3786 όφελος benefit?   2:17   3779 ούτω So 2532 και also 3588 η the 4102 πίστις belief, 1437 εάν if 3361 μη [²not 2041 έργα ⁴works 2192 έχη ¹it should ³have] 3498-1510.2.3 νεκρά εστι it is dead 2596 καθ΄ by 1438 εαυτήν itself.   2:18   235 αλλ΄ But 2046-5100 ερεί τις one shall say, 1473 συ You 4102 πίστιν [²belief 2192 έχεις ¹have], 2504 καγώ and I 2041 έργα [²works 2192 έχω ¹have]. 1166 δείξόν Show 1473 μοι to me 3588 την the 4102-1473 πίστιν σου belief of yours 1537 εκ from out of 3588 των   2041-1473 έργων σου your works! 2504 καγώ and I 1166 δείξω will show 1473 σοι to you 1537 εκ from out of 3588 των   2041-1473 έργων μου my works 3588 την the 4102-1473 πίστιν μου belief of mine.   2:19   1473 συ You 4100 πιστεύεις believe 3754 ότι that 3588 ο   2316 θεός God 1520-1510.2.3 εις εστί is one. 2573 καλώς [²well 4160 ποιείς ¹You do], 2532 και even 3588 τα the 1140 δαιμόνια demons 4100 πιστεύουσι believe 2532 και and 5425 φρίσσουσι shudder.   2:20   2309-1161 θέλεις δε But you want 1097 γνώναι to know, 5599 ω O 444 άνθρωπε [²man 2756 κενέ ¹vain], 3754 ότι that 3588 η the 4102 πίστις belief 5565 χωρίς separate from 3588 των   2041 έργων works 3498-1510.2.3 νεκρά εστιν is dead?   2:21   * Αβραάμ [³Abraham 3588 ο   3962-1473 πατήρ ημών ⁴our Father 3756 ουκ ²not 1537 εξ ⁶by 2041 έργων ⁷works 1344 εδικαιώθη ¹Was ⁵justified], 399 ανενέγκας having offered * Ισαάκ Isaac 3588 τον   5207-1473 υιόν αυτού his son 1909 επί upon 3588 το the 2379 θυσιαστήριον altar?   2:22   991 βλέπεις Do you see 3754 ότι that 3588 η the 4102 πίστις belief 4903 συνήργει was working together 3588 τοις with 2041-1473 έργοις αυτού his works, 2532 και and 1537 εκ by 3588 των the 2041 έργων works 3588 η the 4102 πίστις belief 5048 ετελειώθη was perfected?   2:23   2532 και And 4137 επληρώθη [³was fulfilled 3588 η ¹the 1124 γραφή ²scripture], 3588 η the one 3004 λέγουσα saying, 4100 επίστευσε [³believed 1161 δε ¹And * Αβραάμ ²Abraham] 3588 τω   2316 θεώ in God, 2532 και and 3049 ελογίσθη it was imputed 1473 αυτώ to him 1519 εις for 1343 δικαιοσύνην righteousness; 2532 και and 5384 φίλος [²friend 2316 θεού ³of God 2564 εκλήθη ¹he was called].   2:24   3708 οράτε See 5106 τοίνυν therefore 3754 ότι that 1537 εξ by 2041 έργων works 1344 δικαιούται [²is justified 444 άνθρωπος ¹a man], 2532 και and 3756 ουκ not 1537 εκ by 4102 πίστεως belief 3440 μόνον only!   2:25   3668-1161 ομοίως δε And in like manner 2532 και also * Ραάβ Rahab 3588 η the 4204 πόρνη harlot -- 3756 ουκ [²not 1537 εξ ⁴by 2041 έργων ⁵works 1344 εδικαιώθη ¹was she ³justified], 5264 υποδεξαμένη welcoming 3588 τους the 32 αγγέλους messengers 2532 και and 2087 ετέρα [²by another 3598 οδώ ³way 1544 εκβαλούσα ¹putting them out]?   2:26   5618-1063 ώσπερ γαρ For as 3588 το the 4983 σώμα body 5565 χωρίς separate from 4151 πνεύματος spirit 3498-1510.2.3 νεκρόν εστιν is dead, 3779 ούτω so 2532 και also 3588 η the 4102 πίστις belief 5565 χωρίς separate from 3588 των the 2041 έργων works 3498-1510.2.3 νεκρά εστι is dead.
