¹⁹ `Whoever therefore may loose one of these commands—the least—and may teach men so, least he shall be called in the reign of the heavens, but whoever may do and may teach them, he shall be called great in the reign of the heavens.

³² The whole thing which I am commanding you—it ye observe to do; thou dost not add unto it, nor diminish from it.

²⁶ `Cursed is he who doth not establish the words of this law, to do them, —and all the people have said, Amen.

³⁰ `Therefore—the affirmation of Jehovah, God of Israel—I certainly said, Thy house and the house of thy father, do walk up and down before Me to the age; and now—the affirmation of Jehovah—Far be it from Me! for he who is honouring Me, I honour, and those despising Me, are lightly esteemed.

⁶ Then I am not ashamed In my looking unto all Thy commands.

¹²⁸ Therefore all my appointments I have declared wholly right, Every path of falsehood I have hated!

³ And those teaching do shine as the brightness of the expanse, and those justifying the multitude as stars to the age and for ever.

⁸ And ye, ye have turned from the way, Ye have caused many to stumble in the law, Ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, Said Jehovah of Hosts. ⁹ And I also, I have made you despised and low before all the people, Because ye are not keeping My ways, And are accepting persons in the law.

¹¹ Verily I say to you, there hath not risen, among those born of women, a greater than John the Baptist, but he who is least in the reign of the heavens is greater than he.

³ And he answering said to them, `Wherefore also do ye transgress the command of God because of your tradition? ⁴ for God did command, saying, Honour thy father and mother; and, He who is speaking evil of father or mother—let him die the death; ⁵ but ye say, Whoever may say to father or mother, An offering is whatever thou mayest be profited by me; — ⁶ and he may not honour his father or his mother, and ye did set aside the command of God because of your tradition.

²⁸ And Jesus said to them, `Verily I say to you, that ye who did follow me, in the regeneration, when the Son of Man may sit upon a throne of his glory, shall sit—ye also—upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel;

²⁶ but not so shall it be among you, but whoever may will among you to become great, let him be your ministrant;

¹⁶ `Woe to you, blind guides, who are saying, Whoever may swear by the sanctuary, it is nothing, but whoever may swear by the gold of the sanctuary—is debtor! <sup>17</sup> Fools and blind! for which is greater, the gold, or the sanctuary that is sanctifying the gold? <sup>18</sup> `And, whoever may swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever may swear by the gift that is upon it—is debtor! ¹⁹ Fools and blind! for which is greater, the gift, or the altar that is sanctifying the gift? ²⁰ `He therefore who did swear by the altar, doth swear by it, and by all things on it; <sup>21</sup> and he who did swear by the sanctuary, doth swear by it, and by Him who is dwelling in it; <sup>22</sup> and he who did swear by the heaven, doth swear by the throne of God, and by Him who is sitting upon it. <sup>23</sup> `Woe to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye give tithe of the mint, and the dill, and the cumin, and did neglect the weightier things of the Law—the judgment, and the kindness, and the faith; these it behoved you to do, and those not to neglect.

¹⁵ for he shall be great before the Lord, and wine and strong drink he may not drink, and of the Holy Spirit he shall be full, even from his mother's womb;

⁴⁸ and said to them, `Whoever may receive this child in my name, doth receive me, and whoever may receive me, doth receive Him who sent me, for he who is least among you all—he shall be great.'

⁴² `But woe to you, the Pharisees, because ye tithe the mint, and the rue, and every herb, and ye pass by the judgment, and the love of God; these things it behoveth to do, and those not to be neglecting.

²⁴ And there happened also a strife among them—who of them is accounted to be greater. ²⁵ And he said to them, `The kings of the nations do exercise lordship over them, and those exercising authority upon them are called benefactors; ²⁶ but ye are not so, but he who is greater among you—let him be as the younger; and he who is leading, as he who is ministering;

¹ The former account, indeed, I made concerning all things, O Theophilus, that Jesus began both to do and to teach,

⁸ and not, as we are evil spoken of, and as certain affirm us to say—`We may do the evil things, that the good ones may come?' whose judgment is righteous.

¹ What, then, shall we say? shall we continue in the sin that the grace may abound?

¹⁵ What then? shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? let it not be!

⁸ To no one owe anything, except to love one another; for he who is loving the other—law he hath fulfilled, ⁹ for, `Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false testimony, Thou shalt not covet;' and if there is any other command, in this word it is summed up, in this: `Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself;' ¹⁰ the love to the neighbour doth work no ill; the love, therefore, is the fulness of law.

¹⁰ for as many as are of works of law are under a curse, for it hath been written, `Cursed is every one who is not remaining in all things that have been written in the Book of the Law—to do them,' <sup>11</sup> and that in law no one is declared righteous with God, is evident, because `The righteous by faith shall live;' ¹² and the law is not by faith, but—`The man who did them shall live in them.' <sup>13</sup> Christ did redeem us from the curse of the law, having become for us a curse, for it hath been written, `Cursed is every one who is hanging on a tree,'

¹⁴ for all the law in one word is fulfilled—in this: `Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself;' ¹⁵ and if one another ye do bite and devour, see—that ye may not by one another be consumed. ¹⁶ And I say: In the Spirit walk ye, and the desire of the flesh ye may not complete; ¹⁷ for the flesh doth desire contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit contrary to the flesh, and these are opposed one to another, that the things that ye may will—these ye may not do; ¹⁸ and if by the Spirit ye are led, ye are not under law. ¹⁹ And manifest also are the works of the flesh, which are: Adultery, whoredom, uncleanness, lasciviousness, ²⁰ idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strifes, emulations, wraths, rivalries, dissensions, sects, ²¹ envyings, murders, drunkennesses, revellings, and such like, of which I tell you before, as I also said before, that those doing such things the reign of God shall not inherit. ²² And the fruit of the Spirit is: Love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, ²³ meekness, temperance: against such there is no law; ²⁴ and those who are Christ's, the flesh did crucify with the affections, and the desires;

¹⁷ become followers together of me, brethren, and observe those thus walking, according as ye have us—a pattern; ¹⁸ for many walk of whom many times I told you—and now also weeping tell—the enemies of the cross of the Christ!

⁸ As to the rest, brethren, as many things as are true, as many as are grave, as many as are righteous, as many as are pure, as many as are lovely, as many as are of good report, if any worthiness, and if any praise, these things think upon; ⁹ the things that also ye did learn, and receive, and hear, and saw in me, those do, and the God of the peace shall be with you.

¹⁰ ye are witnesses—God also—how kindly and righteously, and blamelessly to you who believe we became, ¹¹ even as ye have known, how each one of you, as a father his own children, we are exhorting you, and comforting, and testifying, ¹² for your walking worthily of God, who is calling you to His own reign and glory.

¹ As to the rest, then, brethren, we request you, and call upon you in the Lord Jesus, as ye did receive from us how it behoveth you to walk and to please God, that ye may abound the more, ² for ye have known what commands we gave you through the Lord Jesus, ³ for this is the will of God—your sanctification; that ye abstain from the whoredom, ⁴ that each of you know his own vessel to possess in sanctification and honour, ⁵ not in the affection of desire, as also the nations that were not knowing God, ⁶ that no one go beyond and defraud in the matter his brother, because an avenger is the Lord of all these, as also we spake before to you and testified, ⁷ for God did not call us on uncleanness, but in sanctification;

¹¹ Charge these things, and teach; ¹² let no one despise thy youth, but a pattern become thou of those believing in word, in behaviour, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity;

³ if any one be teaching otherwise, and do not consent to sound words—those of our Lord Jesus Christ—and to the teaching according to piety, ⁴ he is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and word-striving, out of which doth come envy, strife, evil-speakings, evil-surmisings,

¹¹ and thou, O man of God, these things flee, and pursue righteousness, piety, faith, love, endurance, meekness;

⁸ discourse sound, irreprehensible, that he who is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say concerning you. ⁹ Servants—to their own masters are to be subject, in all things to be well-pleasing, not gainsaying, ¹⁰ not purloining, but showing all good stedfastness, that the teaching of God our Saviour they may adorn in all things.

⁸ Stedfast is the word; and concerning these things I counsel thee to affirm fully, that they may be thoughtful, to be leading in good works—who have believed God; these are the good and profitable things to men,

¹⁰ for whoever the whole law shall keep, and shall stumble in one point, he hath become guilty of all; ¹¹ for He who is saying, `Thou mayest not commit adultery,' said also, `Thou mayest do no murder;' and if thou shalt not commit adultery, and shalt commit murder, thou hast become a transgressor of law;

⁴ and at the manifestation of the chief Shepherd, ye shall receive the unfading crown of glory.

¹⁴ `But I have against thee a few things: That thou hast there those holding the teaching of Balaam, who did teach Balak to cast a stumbling-block before the sons of Israel, to eat idol-sacrifices, and to commit whoredom; ¹⁵ so hast thou, even thou, those holding the teaching of the Nicolaitans—which thing I hate.

²⁰ `But I have against thee a few things: That thou dost suffer the woman Jezebel, who is calling herself a prophetess, to teach, and to lead astray, my servants to commit whoredom, and idol-sacrifices to eat;
