³ For we also were formerly foolish, disobedient, going astray, enslaved to various disorderly appetites and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

²⁹ and he answered I will not; but afterwards repenting, he went.

⁸ And He said, Take heed that ye be not deceived; for many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ; and the time is near: but do not therefore go after them.

³⁴ Jesus answered them, Verily, verily I say unto you, whosoever maketh a practice of sin, is the servant of sin.

¹ But Saul still breathing out threatnings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, came to the high priest, and desired of him letters to the synagogues at Damascus, ² that if he should find any of this persuasion, men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. ³ And as he was on his journey, and came near to Damascus, suddenly there shone round about him a light from heaven; ⁴ and he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? ⁵ And he said, Who art Thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus the Nazarene whom thou art persecuting: it is hard for thee to kick against the goads. ⁶ And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt Thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise and go into the city, and it shall be told thee, what thou must do.

¹⁹ Wherefore, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision: ²⁰ but declared first to those in Damascus and Jerusalem, and through all the country of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, and turn unto God, performing works suitable to repentance.

²⁹ being filled with all injustice, lewdness, wickedness, covetousness, malignity; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and every evil habit; whisperers, ³⁰ slanderers, haters of God, injurious, haughty, proud, inventers of mischief, undutiful to parents, void of understanding, ³¹ covenant-breakers, without natural affection, implacable, and unmerciful:

⁹ "What then are we the better?" Not at all, in point of justification; for we have before proved that both Jews and Gentiles are all under sin: as it is written, ¹⁰ "There is none righteous, no not one; ¹¹ there is none that understandeth; there is none that seeketh after God. ¹² They are all gone out of the way, they are become unprofitable, there is none that practiseth goodness, no not one. ¹³ Their throat is an open sepulchre: with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: ¹⁴ whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: ¹⁵ their feet are swift to shed blood: ¹⁶ destruction and misery are in their ways: ¹⁷ and the way of peace they have not known; and the fear of God is not before their eyes." ¹⁸ Now we know that whatsoever the law saith, ¹⁹ it saith to those under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world obnoxious to the justice of God. ²⁰ Wherefore by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified before Him: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

¹⁷ But thanks be to God, that ye who were servants of sin, have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered to you:

²² But now being set free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

⁹ What! know ye not that the unjust shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the effeminate, nor sodomites, ¹⁰ nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor rapacious persons, shall inherit the kingdom of God. ¹¹ And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the spirit of our God.

²⁰ For I am afraid least when I come, I should not find you such as I could wish, and I should be found to you such as ye would not: least there should be contentions, emulations, animosities, strifes, thwartings, whisperings, swellings, tumults: and least,

³ For if any one thinketh that he is something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

¹ And you hath he made alive who were dead in trespasses and sins, ² in which ye formerly walked after the manner of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that still operates in the children of disobedience: ³ among whom also we were all conversant heretofore in our carnal desires, indulging the appetites of the flesh and of our imaginations; and were by nature children of wrath, even as others.

²¹ And you that were formerly alienated, and enemies in your mind by wicked works,

⁷ In which ye also formerly walked, when ye lived among them.

² for men will be selfish, covetous, arrogant, proud, blasphemers, undutiful to parents, ungrateful, unholy, ³ without natural affection, perfidious, false accusers, intemperate, savage, enemies to the good, traitors,

²⁶ If any among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his heart, this man's devotion is vain.

¹⁴ as children of obedience, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts in your ignorance:

¹ Seeing therefore Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same thought, that he, who hath mortified the flesh, hath ceased from sin; ² that he should no longer live the rest of his time in the flesh according to the lusts of men, but after the will of God. ³ For the time past of our life is sufficient for us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, walking in lasciviousness, inordinate desires, excess of wine, revellings, drunkenness, and abominable idolatries:

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the devil and Satan, who deceiveth the whole world: he was cast down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him.

¹⁴ by the signs which it was given him to do in the presence of the beast, telling the inhabitants of the earth to make an image to the beast, that had received the wound of the sword, and yet lived.

² And he cried with vehemence, and with a loud voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of demons, a den of impure spirits, and a cage for every unclean and hateful bird.
