³¹ And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you my disciples, that he may sift you as wheat: ³² but I have prayed for thee, that thy faith may not fail; and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. ³³ And he said unto Him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee both to prison and to death. ³⁴ But He replied, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before thou hast thrice denied that thou knowest me. ³⁵ And He said unto them, When I sent you forth without purse, or bag, or shoes, did ye want any thing? and they said, Nothing. ³⁶ Then said He unto them, But now let him, that hath a purse, take it, and his bag likewise; and let him that has no sword, sell his garment and buy one: ³⁷ for I tell you, that this which is written must yet be accomplished in me, "And He was numbered with transgressors," for the things foretold concerning me are near at an end. ³⁸ And they said, Lord, behold here are two swords. And He said unto them, It is enough. ³⁹ And He came out and went, as He used to do, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed Him. ⁴⁰ And when He was at the place, He said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation. ⁴¹ And when He was withdrawn from them about a stone's-cast, He kneeled down and prayed saying, ⁴² Father, if thou art willing take away this cup from me---nevertheless, not my will but thine be done. ⁴³ And there appeared to Him an angel from heaven strengthening Him. ⁴⁴ And being in agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was like clotted blood falling down upon the ground. ⁴⁵ And when He rose up from prayer, He came to his disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow; ⁴⁶ and He said to them, Why do ye sleep? rise and pray, that ye enter not into temptation.

¹⁵ I do not pray that Thou wouldest take them out of the world, but that thou wouldest keep them from the evil.

¹³ No temptation has yet taken you but what is common to man: and God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what ye are able to sustain; but will with the temptation also make a way of escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

¹⁶ For if thou bless in the spirit, how shall the unlearned say Amen to thy thanksgiving, when he knoweth not what thou sayst?

²⁰ but was yea in Him, (for all the promises of God are in Him yea, and in Him amen,) to the glory of God by us:

⁷ And least I should be too much lifted up with the abundance of the revelations, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, least I should be too much elevated. ⁸ For this I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. ⁹ And He said unto me, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my power is manifested in thy weakness." With the greatest pleasure therefore will I glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

⁴ who gave himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from the present evil world, according to the will of our God and Father:

¹⁰ and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivereth us from the wrath to come.

³ But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you, and preserve you from the evil one.

¹⁷ Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

¹⁵ which He will manifest in his own times, who is the blessed and only potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords, ¹⁶ who alone hath immortality, dwelling in light inaccessible, whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen. ¹⁷ Charge them, that are rich in this world, not to be high-minded nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who richly affords us all things for enjoyment: charge them to do good,

¹⁷ But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me; that by me the gospel might be fully spread, and that all the nations might hear: and so I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. ¹⁸ And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me to his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory throughout all ages. Amen.

¹⁴ Seeing then the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also himself in like manner partook of them; that by death He might destroy him that had the empire of death, that is, the devil: ¹⁵ and deliver those who through fear of death were all their life-time subject to bondage.

³⁶ And others had the trial of mockings and scourgings, and of bonds too and imprisonment.

⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; for your adversary the devil, like a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

⁹ iniquitous deeds) then the Lord knoweth how to deliver the pious from temptation, and to reserve the wicked to the day of judgement to be punished:

⁸ he, that makes a practise of sin, is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. And for this the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

¹⁸ We know that whosoever is born of God, doth not practise sin: but keepeth himself from it, and the wicked one doth not touch him. ¹⁹ We know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth under the wicked one.

¹⁸ I am the first and the last, who live, though I was dead; and behold, I am alive for ever and ever, Amen, and have the keys of hades and of death.

¹⁰ Fear none of the things which thou wilt suffer: behold the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall suffer affliction ten days. Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

¹⁰ Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which is to come upon the whole world, to try those that dwell upon the earth.

¹⁴ And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot:

¹³ And I heard every creature in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and on the sea, and all that are in them, saying, Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and to the Lamb, for ever and ever.

¹⁴ And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they who come out of great affliction, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. ¹⁵ Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in his temple: and He that sitteth upon the throne shall dwell among them. ¹⁶ They shall hunger no more, nor thirst any more, nor shall the sun nor any violent heat fall upon them. ¹⁷ For the Lamb, that is in the midst of the throne, shall feed them, and shall lead them to fountains of living waters: and God will wipe off every tear from their eyes.

¹ And after these things I heard a loud voice as of a great multitude in heaven, saying, Alleluia; salvation, and glory, and honor, and power to the Lord our God: for true and righteous are his judgements;

⁴ And the four and twenty elders, and the four animals fell down and worshipped God that sat upon the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.

⁴ And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there shall be death no more, nor sorrow, nor crying, nor any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
