¹ Then will the kingdom of heaven be like ten virgins, who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom: and five of them were wise,

² and saying, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand:

¹⁶ So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your father, who is in heaven.

¹⁵ And Jesus said unto them, Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn, while the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then they will fast.

²⁴ Another parable propounded He unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a man, who sowed good grain in his ground:

³¹ Another parable delivered He unto them, saying, The gospel-kingdom is like a grain of mustard-seed, which a man took and sowed in his field.

³⁸ the field is the world; the good seed are the children of my kingdom; and the tares are the children of the wicked one.

⁴⁴ Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hid in a field, which a man having found conceals, and being rejoiced at it goes and sells all that he has, and purchases that field. ⁴⁵ Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking precious pearls,

⁴⁷ Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net, that was cast into the sea, and inclosed fishes of various sorts;

¹ For the gospel-kingdom is like the master of a family, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard:

² saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king, who made a wedding-feast for his son;

⁴² Watch therefore, for ye know not at what hour your Lord cometh: ⁴³ but this ye know, that if the master of the house had known at what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broke open: therefore be ye also ready; ⁴⁴ for the Son of man cometh at a time that ye think not of. ⁴⁵ Who then is the faithful and prudent servant, whom his lord hath set over his family to give them food in due season? ⁴⁶ blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so employed: ⁴⁷ verily I tell you, that he will set him over his whole estate. ⁴⁸ But if that servant be wicked and say in his heart, my master delayeth his coming, ⁴⁹ and begin to beat his fellow-servants, and to revel with drunkards: ⁵⁰ the lord of that servant will come in a day when he doth not expect him, and in an hour which he knows not, ⁵¹ and will cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with hypocrites: where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

¹⁹ And Jesus said unto them, Can the bridemen fast, when the bridegroom is with them? while the bridegroom is with them, they cannot fast: ²⁰ but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them; and then shall they fast.

³⁴ And He said unto them, Can ye make those of the bride-chamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? ³⁵ but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, then they will fast.

³⁵ Let your loins be girt, and your lights burning, and ³⁶ ye yourselves like men waiting for their lord's return from a wedding, that they may immediately open the door to him, when he comes and knocks.

³⁴ Take heed to yourselves, least at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness, and the cares of life, and so that day should come upon you unawares: ³⁵ for as a snare shall it come upon all that dwell on the face of the whole earth. ³⁶ Watch therefore and be constant in prayer, that ye may be counted worthy to escape all these things, which shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

²⁹ He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, who standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth with great joy at the bridegroom's voice. Therefore my joy is complete.

⁸ And there were many lamps in the upper room where they were assembled.

² Now I commend you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

² For I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy, having espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave up Himself for it: ²⁶ to sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, ²⁷ that He might prepare it for Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any such thing: but that it should be holy and unblameable. ²⁸ Men ought so to love their wives, as their own bodies: he that loveth his wife, loveth himself. ²⁹ For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord also doth the church: ³⁰ for we are members of his body, as if taken out of his flesh, and of his bones, as Eve was out of Adam's. ³¹ For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. ³² This mystery is great: but I speak concerning Christ and the Church. ³³ Nevertheless, let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and let the wife reverence her husband.

¹⁵ that ye may be blameless and inoffensive, the children of God without reproof, in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation; among whom ye shine as lights in the world, ¹⁶ exhibiting the word of life; to my rejoicing in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, nor laboured in vain.

⁸ As to what remains, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me in that day: and not to me only, but also to all those who have longed for his appearance.

¹³ looking for the blessed hope, and glorious appearance of the great God, and our Saviour, Jesus Christ:

¹³ And I think it my duty, while I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by way of remembrance: ¹⁴ knowing that I must soon lay down this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. ¹⁵ And I will endeavour that after my departure also ye may always be able to call these things to remembrance.

¹² expecting and hastening on the coming of the day of God, whereby the heavens being set on fire shall be dissolved, and the burning elements shall be melted. ¹³ But we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwelleth.

⁵ And out of the throne came lightnings, and thunders, and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne; which are the seven spirits of God.

⁴ These are they who were not defiled with women; for they are virgins: these are they who follow the Lamb whithersoever He goeth: these were redeemed from among men, as the first-fruits unto God and the Lamb.

⁷ Let us rejoice and exult and give glory to Him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

² And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, descending from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

⁹ And there came unto me one of the seven angels, who had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and he spake with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.
