⁴⁵ Who then is the faithful and prudent servant, whom his lord hath set over his family to give them food in due season?

²⁴ Whoever therefore heareth these words of mine, and performeth them, I will compare him to a prudent man, who built his house on a rock:

¹⁶ Behold I send you forth as sheep into the midst of wolves: be ye therefore prudent as serpents, and innocent as doves.

⁵² Therefore every teacher, who has been thus instructed in the knowledge of the kingdom of heaven, is like a master of a family, who brings forth out of his store things new and old.

² and five were foolish.

²¹ and his lord said to him, Well done, my good and trusty servant, thou hast been faithful in a few things, I will set thee over many, enter into thy master's joy.

²³ his lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful in a few things, I will set thee over many, enter into the joy of thy lord.

³⁵ for I was famishing, and ye gave me food; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in; ³⁶ I was naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye took care of me; I was in prison, and ye visited me. ³⁷ Then will the righteous answer Him, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungry, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? ³⁸ and when did we see thee a stranger, and took thee in? ³⁹ or naked, and clothed thee? and when did we see thee sick, or in prison, and visited thee? ⁴⁰ And the king replying will say unto them, Verily I declare unto you, inasmuch as ye did it to one of the lest of these my brethren, ye did it to me.

⁴¹ Then said Peter unto Him, Lord, dost thou speak this parable to us only, or to all others likewise? ⁴² And the Lord said, Who is indeed that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will set over his family to give out the measure of food in due season? ⁴³ Happy is that servant, whom his lord, when he cometh, shall find so doing.

¹⁰ He, that is faithful in the lest, is faithful also in much: and he, that is unjust in the lest, is unjust also in much. ¹¹ If therefore ye have not been faithful in the false riches, who will intrust you with the true? ¹² and if ye have not been faithful in that which was another's, who will give you that which is your own?

¹⁷ And he said to him, Well done, thou good servant, as thou hast been faithful in a very little, thou shalt be governor over ten cities.

¹⁵ Now when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon son of Jonas, dost thou love me more than these? He saith unto Him, Yes, Lord, Thou knowest that I love Thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. ¹⁶ He saith to him again the second time, Simon son of Jonas, dost thou love me? He saith unto Him, Yes, Lord, Thou knowest that I love Thee. ¹⁷ He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. He saith unto him the third time, Simon son of Jonas, dost thou love me? Peter was grieved, that He said to him the third time, Dost thou love me? And he said unto Him, Lord, Thou knowest all things, Thou knowest that I love Thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

²⁸ Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the holy Spirit hath appointed you bishops, to feed the church of God, which He purchased with his own blood.

¹ And I, my brethren, could not speak to you, as to spiritual persons, but as to carnal ones, even as to babes in Christ. ² I have fed you with milk, and not with meat; for ye were not hitherto able to bear it, nor yet are ye even now able.

¹ Let a man so account of us, as the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. ² Now it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

¹¹ And therefore He gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers; to qualify holy men for the work of the ministry, ¹² to the edifying of the body of Christ: ¹³ till we all arrive in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, at perfect maturity, even to the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.

¹² And I give thanks to Christ Jesus our Lord, who gave me ability for the work, that He accounted me faithful, having put me into the ministry,

² and the things which thou hast heard from me, before many witnesses, these commit to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

⁵ Now Moses was indeed faithful in all his house as a servant, for a testimony of the things which were to be spoken:

¹⁰ as every one hath received a gift, imparting it to each other, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. ¹¹ If any one speak, let it be as declaring the oracles of God: if any one minister, let it be as from the power which God affordeth him: that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

¹ The elders that are among you I exhort, who am also an elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker of the glory which shall be revealed; feed the flock of God that is among you, ² taking the episcopal charge of it, not by constraint, but willingly; not for shameful lucre, but with a ready mind: ³ nor as lording it over the people, but being examples to the flock.

¹³ I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and yet thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr; who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.
