¹⁵ Others said, it is Elias: and others said, it is a prophet, or like one of the prophets.

¹⁴ And they answered, Some say thou art John the Baptist, others Elias, and others Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

¹⁰ And his disciples asked Him, saying, Why then do the scribes say, that Elias must first come? ¹¹ Jesus said unto them, Elias doth indeed come first, and shall set all things right.

¹¹ And the people answered, This is Jesus the prophet, from Nazareth in Galilee.

²⁸ And they answered, Some say, John the baptist; and others, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.

³⁵ And some of them that stood by hearing it, said, Behold He calleth upon Elias. ³⁶ And there ran one, and filled a spunge with vinegar, and putting it on a reed offered it Him to drink, saying, Let Him alone, let us see whether Elias will come to take Him down.

¹⁷ And he shall go before Him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers unto the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to prepare for the Lord a people well-disposed.

¹⁶ And an awe seized them all, and they glorified God, saying, a great prophet is risen up among us, and God hath visited his people.

³⁹ But when the pharisee that invited Him saw it, he said within himself, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what sort of a woman this is that toucheth Him; for she is a notorious sinner.

⁸ and by some that Elias had appeared; and by others, that one of the ancient prophets was risen again.

¹⁹ They answering said, John the baptist: but others say Elias: and others, that some ancient prophet is risen again.

²¹ And they asked him, What then? art thou Elias? And he said, I am not. Art thou a prophet? and he answered, No.

²⁵ and they asked him, and said to him, Why then dost thou baptize, if thou art not the Christ, nor Elias, nor a prophet?

¹⁴ Therefore the people when they had seen the miracle that Jesus wrought, said, this is certainly the Prophet who was to come into the world.

⁴⁰ Many of the people therefore, when they heard this discourse, said, This is in truth a prophet.

¹⁷ So they asked the blind man again, What sayst thou concerning Him? as He hath opened thine eyes.

²² For Moses said unto the fathers, the Lord your God will raise up a prophet unto you, of your brethren, like me, Him shall ye hear in all things whatever He shall say unto you; ²³ and every soul, who will not hearken to that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people: yea and all the prophets from Samuel,
