¹⁶ Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed: the fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

⁶ and they were baptized by him in Jordan, confessing their sins.

⁷ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: ⁸ for every one, that asketh, receiveth; and he, that seeketh, findeth; and to him, that knocketh, it shall be opened. ⁹ Is there any man among you, who, if his son ask him for bread, will give him a stone? ¹⁰ or if he ask for a fish, will he give him a serpent? ¹¹ If ye then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to them that ask Him?

¹⁵ And if thy brother trespass against thee, go and expostulate with him alone; if he hearken to thee, thou hast gained thy brother: ¹⁶ but if he regard thee not, take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. ¹⁷ And if he disregard them, tell it to the church: but if he disregard the church too, let him be unto thee as an heathen and a publican.

²² And all things whatsoever ye ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

³ and having heard of Jesus, he sent unto Him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that He would come and heal his servant. ⁴ And when they came to Jesus, they intreated Him earnestly, saying, he is worthy of this favor:

⁶ And they went from town to town, preaching the gospel and healing every where.

¹¹ If a son ask bread of any father among you, will he give him a stone? and if he ask for a fish, will he instead of a fish give him a serpent? or if he ask for an egg, ¹² will he give him a scorpion? ¹³ If ye then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the holy Spirit to them that ask Him?

¹ And He spake also a parable to them, to shew that men ought always to pray, and not to faint: ² saying, There was a judge in a certain city, who neither feared God, nor regarded man. ³ And there was a widow in that city, who came to him, saying, Do me justice of my adversary. ⁴ And he would not for a time: but afterwards he said within himself, Though I fear not God, ⁵ nor regard man, yet because this widow gives me trouble, I will do her justice, least by continually coming she weary me out. ⁶ And the Lord said, hear what even the unjust judge saith: ⁷ and will not God do justice for his elect that cry to Him day and night, though He bear long with them. ⁸ I tell you, He will avenge them speedily. And yet when the Son of man cometh, shall He find faith in the land?

³¹ Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a servant of God, and do his will, him He heareth.

²⁴ And when they heard it, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, Thou art God, who hast made heaven and earth, and sea, and all things therein: ²⁵ who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord and against his anointed. ²⁷ For of a truth both Herod and Pontius Pilate, the Gentiles and the people of Israel, combined against thy holy child Jesus, ²⁸ (whom Thou hast anointed,) to do whatever thy hand and thy counsel had before determined to be done. ²⁹ And now, Lord, behold their threatenings; and give unto thy servants to speak thy word with all freedom, while Thou art stretching forth thy hand to heal, ³⁰ and while signs and wonders are done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. ³¹ And when they had prayed, the place in which they were assembled was shaken; and they were all filled with the holy Spirit, and they spake the word of God with freedom.

³⁸ how God anointed Him with the holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed by the devil: for God was with Him.

⁵ Peter was therefore kept in custody: but incessant prayer was made to God for him by the church. ⁶ And when Herod was about to bring him forth, that very night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the guards at the door watched the prison. ⁷ And behold an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the room; and smiting Peter on the side, he waked him, and said, Rise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. ⁸ And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself and tie on thy sandals: and he did so. And he saith unto him, Throw thy garment round thee, and follow me. ⁹ So he went out and followed him; and he did not know, that what was done by the angel was real, but thought he saw a vision. ¹⁰ And passing through the first and second guard, they came to the iron gate, that leadeth into the city, which of its own accord opened to them: and they went out and passed on through one street; and then the angel departed from him. ¹¹ And Peter being come to himself said, Now I know truly, that the Lord hath sent his angel and hath delivered me from the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

¹⁸ And many of them that believed came confessing and declaring their former practices.

¹⁰ "There is none righteous, no not one;

¹⁹ For as by the disobedience of one man many were made sinners; so by the obedience of One shall many be made righteous.

⁹ For this cause we also, from the day that we heard it, cease not to pray for you, and to request that ye may be filled with the knowledge of his will, in all wisdom and spiritual understanding:

¹⁷ Pray continually.

²³ And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you wholly: and grant that your whole frame, spirit, soul, and body may be kept blameless to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁵ Brethren, pray for us.

⁴ By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained the testimony that he was righteous, God bearing witness to his gifts: and by it, though dead, he yet speaketh.

⁷ By faith Noah being warned by God of things which were not yet seen, moved with pious fear, prepared an ark for the safety of his family; whereby he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

¹³ And make strait paths for your feet, that what is lame may not be turned out of the way, but rather be healed.

¹⁸ Pray for us; for we are confident that we have a good conscience, desiring in all things to behave well.

²⁴ Who Himself bare our sins in his own body on the cross, that we being dead to sins, might live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye are healed.

²² and whatsoever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep his commandments, and do the things that are pleasing in his sight.
