²⁰ For what glory is it, if when ye sin and are punished for it, ye bear it patiently? but if when ye do well and suffer for it, ye bear it patiently, this will gain favor with God.

¹⁰ Blessed are they, who are persecuted for righteousness sake; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ¹¹ Blessed are ye when men shall revile and persecute you, and utter all manner of reproach against you falsly, for my sake: ¹² rejoice and be exceeding glad; for great will be your reward in heaven: for so they persecuted the prophets, that were before you.

⁴⁷ and if ye embrace your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not the publicans so likewise?

⁶⁷ Then did they spit in his face, and beat Him about the head; and some struck Him with rods,

⁶⁵ And they spit upon Him, and blind-folded Him, and then buffeted Him and said to Him, prophesy who it was: and the officers struck him with their rods.

³² If ye love only them that love you, what thanks are due to you? for even the wicked love those that love them:

¹ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, and well-pleasing to God, as your rational service. ² And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may experience what is the good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

¹¹ Even to this present time we suffer both hunger, and thirst, and nakedness, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling:

¹⁰ approving what is well-pleasing to the Lord.

¹⁸ And indeed I have it all, and now abound: I am fully supplied, having received of Epaphroditus the things sent by you, a fragrant odor, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God.

¹⁹ for this is an evidence of grace, if any one for conscience towards God endure griefs, suffering unjustly.

¹⁴ But if ye should even suffer for righteousness sake, happy are ye: and therefore be not afraid of their menaces, neither be troubled; but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts:

¹⁷ For it is better (if it be the will of God) to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.

¹⁴ If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the Spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: and though as to them He is blasphemed, yet as to you He is glorified. ¹⁵ But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as a malefactor, or as an intermeddler with other people's affairs. ¹⁶ But if any suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God herein.
