⁷⁸ because of the tender compassions of the mercy of our God, wherein the day-spring from on high shall visit us,

¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that every one who believes on Him should not perish, but have eternal life;

⁴ but God, being rich in mercy, on account of His great love wherewith He loved us, ⁵ even when we were dead in our offenses, made us alive with Christ (by grace ye have been saved),

¹⁴ Wherefore, He saith: "Awake, you who are sleeping; and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine upon you!"

⁸ For God is my witness, how I long for you all in the tender affections of Christ Jesus.

¹ If there is, therefore, any consolation in Christ, if any encouragement of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any tender affections and compassions,

¹² Put on, therefore, as God's elect, holy and beloved, tender affections of compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, long-suffering;

¹⁹ And we have the more sure prophetic word, to which ye do well to take heed, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the Morning Star arise in your hearts;

¹⁷ But whosoever possesses the goods of the world, and beholds his brother having need, and shuts up his compassion from him, how does the love of God abide in him?

⁹ In this was manifested the love of God in us, that God hath sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we may live through Him. ¹⁰ Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son, to be a propitiation for our sins.

¹⁶ "I, Jesus, sent My angel to testify to you these things to the assemblies. I am the root and offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.
