¹⁸ One day while He was praying in solitude, His disciples were nearby, and He asked them, "Who do people say that I am?"

¹³ When Jesus reached the district of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" ¹⁴ They answered, "Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." ¹⁵ He said to them, "Who do you yourselves say that I am?" ¹⁶ Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

³⁶ Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and He said to the disciples, "Sit down here while I go over yonder and pray."

²⁷ Then Jesus and His disciples left Galilee and went to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way there He was asking His disciples, "Who do people say that I am?" ²⁸ They answered Him, "John the Baptist; others say, Elijah, and others that you are one of the prophets." ²⁹ Then He began to ask them, "Who do you yourselves say that I am?" Peter answered Him, "You are the Christ." ³⁰ But He strictly warned them not to tell this about Him to anybody.

¹ Once He was praying in a certain place, and when He ceased, one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples."

³⁹ Then He went out of the city and up the Mount of Olives, as He was in the habit of doing; and His disciples, too, followed Him there. ⁴⁰ Now when He reached the spot, He said to them, "Continue to pray that you may not be subjected to temptation." ⁴¹ And He Himself withdrew about a stone's throw from them, and after kneeling down He continued to pray,
