¹² But to all who did accept Him, and trust in His name, He gave the right to become the children of God,

⁴⁰ "Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes Him who sent me.

²¹ On His name the heathen will set their hopes."

⁵ and whoever welcomes one little child like this for my sake welcomes me.

⁷ He came for the purpose of testifying, to testify to the light, so that everyone through him might come to believe.

²³ Now while He was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many people, because they saw the wonder-works which He was performing, trusted in Him as the Christ.

¹⁸ Whoever trusts in Him is never to come up for judgment, but whoever does not trust in Him has already received his sentence, because he has not trusted in the name of God's only Son.

⁵² and not only for the nation, but also to unite the scattered children of God.

³¹ But these have been recorded, in order that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life, as bearers of His name.

¹⁶ It is His name, that is, on condition of faith in His name, that has made strong again this man whom you see and recognize -- yes, faith inspired by Him has given this man the perfect health you all see.

¹⁴ For all who are guided by God's Spirit are God's sons.

¹⁷ Therefore: "'Come out of company with them, and separate from them,' the Lord has said, 'And stop touching what is unclean; then I will welcome you, ¹⁸ I will be a Father to you, and you will be sons and daughters of mine,' The Lord Almighty said."

²⁶ For all of you are sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

⁶ And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, "Abba," that is, "Father."

⁶ So, just as you once accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue living in vital union with Him,

⁴ It is through these that He has given us His precious and glorious promises, so that through them, after you have escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of evil desires, you may come to share in the divine nature.

¹ See what wonderful love the Father has bestowed on us in letting us be called God's children, and that is what we are! This is why the world does not know what we are, because it has never come to know Him.

²³ His command is this, that we should believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ and practice loving one another, just as He commanded us to do.

¹² Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son does not have life. ¹³ I have written this to you who believe in the person of the Son of God, so that you may know that you already have eternal life.
