¹ When Jesus had said all these things, He lifted His eyes to heaven and said: "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that He may glorify you,

⁴¹ He came back the third time and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? No more of that! The hour has come. See! The Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinful men.

¹³ But the tax-collector stood at a distance and would not even lift his eyes to heaven, but continued to beat his breast, and say, 'O God, have mercy on me, a sinner!'

⁵³ While I was among you day after day in the temple, you never laid a hand on me! But this is your opportunity, even the power which darkness gives you!"

³⁰ Then they kept on trying to arrest Him, and yet no one laid a hand on Him, for the time had not yet come.

³⁹ By this He referred to the Spirit that those believing in Him were going to receive -- for the Spirit had not yet come, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.

²⁰ He said these things in the treasury as He was teaching in the temple, and yet no one ventured to arrest Him, because the time had not yet come for Him.

⁴ When Jesus received the message, He said, "This sickness is not to end in death but is to honor God, that the Son of God through it may be honored."

⁴¹ So they slipped the stone aside. And Jesus looked up and said, "Father, I thank you for listening to me;

²³ Jesus answered them, "The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified,

²⁷ Now my soul is troubled; what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour of agony! And yet it was for this very purpose that I came to this hour of agony. ²⁸ Father, glorify your name." Then a voice came out of heaven, "I have already glorified it and I will again glorify it."

¹ Before the Passover feast started, Jesus knew that His time had come for Him to leave the world and go to the Father, and as He had loved His own in the world He loved them to the last.

³¹ When he had left, Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in Him, ³² and God will through Himself glorify Him, and He will glorify Him at once.

³² Listen! A time is coming, yea, it is right here, when you will all be scattered to your homes and will leave me alone. And yet, I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

⁴ I have glorified you down here upon the earth by completing the work which you have given me to do. ⁵ So now, Father, glorify me up there in your presence just as you did before the world existed.

¹³ The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our forefathers, has glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you yourselves betrayed and disowned before Pilate, although he had decided to set Him free.

⁹ This is why God has highly exalted Him, and given Him the name that is above every other name, ¹⁰ so that in the name of Jesus everyone should kneel, in heaven, on earth, and in the underworld, ¹¹ and everyone should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the praise of God the Father.

²¹ who through Him trust in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory; so that your faith and hope may rest in God.
