⁶ so that we might praise the splendid favor which He has shown us in His beloved Son.

¹⁷ and a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, my Beloved, in whom I am delighted!"

⁵ While he was still speaking, a bright cloud cast its shadow over them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my Son, my Beloved, in whom I am delighted. Keep on listening to Him!"

¹⁴ "Glory to God in highest heaven! And peace on earth to men who please him."

³⁵ The Father loves His Son and has put everything in His hands.

¹⁷ This is why the Father loves me, because I am giving my own life to take it back again.

²² God's own way of giving men right standing with Himself is through faith in Jesus Christ. It is for everybody who has faith, for no distinction at all is made. ²³ For everybody has sinned and everybody continues to come short of God's glory, ²⁴ but anybody may have right standing with God as a free gift of His undeserved favor, through the ransom provided in Christ Jesus. ²⁵ For God once publicly offered Him in His death as a sacrifice of reconciliation through faith, to demonstrate His own justice (for in His forbearance God had passed over men's former sins); ²⁶ yes, to demonstrate His justice at the present time, to prove that He is right Himself, and that He considers right with Himself the man who has faith in Jesus.

¹⁵ But God's free gift is not at all to be compared with the offense. For if by one man's offense the whole race of men have died, to a much greater degree God's favor and His gift imparted by His favor through the one man Jesus Christ, has overflowed for the whole race of men. ¹⁶ And the gift is not fit all to be compared with the results of that one man's sin. For that sentence resulted from the offense of one man, and it meant condemnation, but the free gift resulted from the offenses of many, and it meant right standing. ¹⁷ For if by one man's offense death reigned through that one, to a much greater degree will those who continue to receive the overflow of His unmerited favor and His gift of right standing with Himself, reign in real life through One, Jesus Christ. ¹⁸ So, as through one offense there resulted condemnation for all men, just so through one act of uprightness there resulted right standing involving life for all men. ¹⁹ For just as by that man's disobedience the whole race of men were constituted sinners, so by this One's obedience the whole race of men may be brought into right standing with God.

¹ So then there is no condemnation at all for those who are in union with Christ Jesus.

²³ so as to make known the riches of His glory for the objects of His mercy, whom He prepared in ages past to share His glory -- ²⁴ even us whom He has called, not only from among the Jews but from among the heathen too?

¹⁵ For everything is for your sakes, in order that His favor by multiplying the thanksgiving of many may make the cup run over to the praise of God.

²¹ He made Him who personally knew nothing of sin to be a sin-offering for us, so that through union with Him we might come into right standing with God.

⁷ It is through union with Him that we have redemption by His blood and the forgiveness of our shortcomings, in accordance with the generosity of His unmerited favor ⁸ which He lavished upon us. Through perfect wisdom and spiritual insight

¹² that we who had first put our hope in Christ might praise His glory.

¹⁴ who is the first installment of our inheritance, so that we may finally come into full possession of the prize of redemption, and praise His glory for it.

¹⁸ by having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, so that you may know what the hope is to which He calls you, how glorious rich God's portion in His people is,

⁷ to show, throughout the coming ages, the boundless generosity of His unmerited favor shown us in His goodness to us through Christ Jesus.

¹⁰ so that the many phases of God's wisdom may now through the church be made known to the rulers and authorities in heaven, ¹¹ in accordance with the eternal purpose which God executed in the gift of Christ Jesus our Lord.

¹¹ men that are abounding in the fruits of right-doing with the help of Jesus Christ, to the honor and praise of God.

⁹ and be actually in union with Him, not having a supposed right standing with God which depends on my doing what the law commands, but one that comes through faith in Christ, the real right standing with God which originates from Him and rests on faith.

¹⁹ My God will amply supply your every need, through Christ Jesus, from His riches in glory.

¹³ It is God who has delivered us out of the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of His dearly loved Son,

⁸ in a flame of fire, who will take vengeance on those who do not know God, that is, those who will not listen to the good news of our Lord Jesus. ⁹ These will receive the punishment of eternal destruction as exiles from the presence of the Lord and His glorious might, ¹⁰ when on that day He comes to be glorified in His consecrated ones and to be admired by all who believe in Him because our testimony has been confidently accepted among you.

¹⁴ and the spiritual blessing of our Lord in increasing floods has come upon me, accompanied by faith and love inspired by union with Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ It is a saying to be trusted and deserves our fullest acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; and I am the foremost of them. ¹⁶ Yet, mercy was shown me for the very purpose that in my case as the foremost of sinners Jesus might display His perfect patience, to make me an example to those who in the future might believe on Him to obtain eternal life.

⁵ and keep on building yourselves up, as living stones, into a spiritual house for a consecrated priesthood, to offer up, through Jesus Christ, spiritual sacrifices that will be acceptable to God.

⁹ But you are the chosen race, the royal priesthood, the consecrated nation, the people to be His very own, to proclaim the perfections of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.

¹¹ If anyone is preaching, let him do it as one who utters the oracles of God; if anyone is rendering any service to others, let him do it with all the strength that God supplies, so that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
