⁶⁸ Simon Peter answered Him, "To whom can we go, Lord? You have the message that gives eternal life,

²⁰ I most solemnly say to you, whoever welcomes any messenger I send welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes Him who has sent me."

⁸ for I have given them the teachings that you gave me, and they have accepted them, and they have come to know in reality that I did come from you, and so they are convinced that you did send me.

²⁰ "I make this petition, not for them only, but for all who ever come to believe in me through their message,

³ So, brothers, you must select from your number seven men of good standing, full of the Spirit, and of good practical sense, and we will assign them to this business,

² a religious man, too, who revered God with all his household, who was always liberal in his many deeds of charity to the people, and who had the habit of praying to God.

⁶ He is a guest of a tanner named Simon, whose house is close by the sea."

³³ So at once I sent for you, and you have been kind enough to come. So now we are all here in God's presence to listen to anything that the Lord has commanded you to say."

¹⁴ he will tell you truths through which you and your whole household will be saved.'

¹² There a man named Ananias, a man devout in strict accordance with the law, of good reputation among all the Jews who lived there,

¹⁵ and I have the same hope in God that they cherish for themselves, that there is to be a resurrection of the upright and the wicked.

¹⁷ For in the good news God's Way of man's right standing with Him is uncovered, the Way of faith that leads to greater faith, just as the Scripture says, "The upright man must live by faith."

¹⁷ So faith comes from hearing what is told, and hearing through the message about Christ. ¹⁸ But may I ask, They had no chance to hear, did they? Yes, indeed: "All over the earth their voices have gone, to the ends of the world their words."

¹⁸ This has all originated with God, for He through Christ has reconciled me to Himself and has given me the ministry of reconciliation.

⁷ He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, or else he may incur reproach and fall into the devil's trap.

³⁸ Meantime, my righteous servant will live by faith. But if a man draws back, my soul has no delight in him."

² For by it the men of old won God's approval.

²³ to the festal gathering and assembly of God's firstborn sons enrolled as citizens in heaven, to a Judge who is the God of all, to the spirits of upright men who have attained perfection,

² to remember the things foretold by the holy prophets, and the command of the Lord and Saviour through your apostles.

¹² Demetrius has a good testimony from everybody and from truth itself; yea, from me too, and you know that my testimony to him is true.
