¹⁹ Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and observe the things wherewith one may edify another

⁹ Blessed [are] the peace-makers: for they shall be called the children of God.

⁵⁰ Salt [is] good: but if the salt shall have lost its saltness, wherewith shall it be seasoned? Have salt in your selves, and be at peace one with another.

¹⁸ If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

² Let every one of us please [his] neighbour for good to edification.

¹⁵ But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such [cases]: but God hath called us to peace.

³³ Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but that of many, that they may be saved.

¹² Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual [gifts], seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church. ¹³ And therefore let him that speaketh in a tongue pray so that he do interpret. ¹⁴ or if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. ¹⁵ What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with a meaning also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with a meaning also. ¹⁶ Else when thou shalt bless in the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned, say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest? ¹⁷ For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.

²⁶ How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a doctrine, hath a psalm, hath a revelation, hath a tongue, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done to edifying.

¹⁹ Again, think you that we excuse our selves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but all things, dearly beloved, [are] for your edifying.

¹¹ Finally, brethren, farewell: be perfect, be of good comfort, be unanimous, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

³ Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit, in the bond of peace. ⁴ One body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; ⁵ One Lord, one faith, one baptism, ⁶ One God and Father of all, who [is] above all, and though all, and in you all. ⁷ But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

²⁹ Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to edification of faith: that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

¹ If [there be] therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies; ² Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be unanimous, having the same love, of one accord, of one mind. ³ [Do] nothing through strife, or vain-glory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves. ⁴ Looking, not every man on his own things, but evey man on the things of others.

¹² Put on therefore as the elect of God holy and beloved bowels of mercies, also kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; ¹³ Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as the Lord forgave you, so also do ye. ¹⁴ And above all these things, [put on] charity, which is the bond of unity. ¹⁵ And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

¹¹ Wherefore comfort your selves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. ¹² And we beseech you, brethren, to know them who labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

⁴ Neither to give heed to fables, and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying, which is in faith.

²² Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

¹⁴ Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

¹³ Who [is] a wise man and endued with knowledge amongst you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. ¹⁴ But if then ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. ¹⁵ This wisdom descendeth not from above, but [is] earthly, sensual, devilish. ¹⁶ For where envying and strife [is], there [is] also confusion, and every evil work. ¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, easy to be entrated, full of mercy and good fruits, without wavering, without hypocrisy. ¹⁸ And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

¹¹ But let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
