⁵ And Jesus answered and said, For the hardness of your heart, Moses wrote this precept.

⁸ And he saith unto them, Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.

⁵¹ Ye stiff necked, and uncircumcised in hearts and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as did also your fathers, so [do] ye.

⁷ Wherefore, as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, ⁸ Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: ⁹ When your fathers tried [and] proved me in that trial, and saw my works forty years. ¹⁰ Wherefore I was grieved with this generation, and said, They do alway err in heart; and they have not known my ways.
