³⁸ I sent you to reap: Ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entred into their labours.

¹ In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, ² And saying, Repent ye; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. ³ For this it he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. ⁴ And the same John had his raiment of camels hair, and a leathern girdle about his loyns; and his meat was locusts, and wild honey. ⁵ Then went out to him Jerusalem and all Judea, and all the region about Jordan, ⁶ And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.

²³ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness, and all manner of disease among the people.

⁸ But what went ye out to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? bebold, they that wear soft [clothing], are in kings houses. ⁹ But what went ye out to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. ¹⁰ This is he of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee. ¹¹ Verily I say unto you, among them that are born of women, there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of heaven, is greater than he. ¹² And from the days of John the Baptist, until now, the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. ¹³ For all the prophets, and the law prophesied until John.

⁷ He came for a witness, to bear witness of the light, that all through him might believe.

⁴¹ Then they that believed his word, were baptized; and the same day there were added about three thousand souls.

⁴ But many of them which heard the word, believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.

³² And the multitude of them that believed, were of one heart, and of one soul: neither was there any difference among them: neither said any that ought of the things which he possessed, was his own, but they had all things common.

¹⁴ And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.

⁷ And the word of the Lord increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

⁴ Therefore they that were scattered abroad, went about preaching the word. ⁵ And Philip came to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. ⁶ But when all the multitudes with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing, and seeing the signs which he did. ⁷ Unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. ⁸ And there was great joy in that city.

¹⁴ Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem, heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John. ¹⁵ Who when they were come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Ghost. ¹⁶ For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. ¹⁷ Then laid they hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

³⁷ That you know, which was throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; ³⁸ Jesus of Nazareth; whom God anointed with the Holy Ghost, and with power: He went about doing good, and healing all that were brought into subjection by the devil: for God was with him.

⁴² And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he who was ordained of God the judge of quick and dead. ⁴³ To him witness all the prophets, that through his name whosoever believeth in him, shall receive remission of sins.

¹¹ Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings for Christ, and the glory that should follow. ¹² Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto you they did minister the things which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you, by the Holy Ghost, sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
