Ephesians 3:1 Cross References - Whiston

¹ For this cause, I Paul, the prisoner of Christ, am an ambassador for you Gentiles;

¹² But before all these things they will lay their hands on you, and persecute [you],delivering [you] up to the synagogues, and to prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my names sake.

³³ Then the chief captain came near and took him, and commanded [him] to be bound with two chains; and demanded, who he was, and what he had done.

¹⁸ So he took him, and brought him to the chief captain, and said, Paul the prisoner prayed me tobring this young man unto thee, who hath something to say unto thee.

²⁹ And Paul[said], I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

¹⁷ And it came to pass, that after three days, he called the chief of the Jews together. And when they were come together, he said unto them, Men, brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans. ¹⁸ Who when they had examined me, would have let [me] go, because there was no cause of death in me. ¹⁹ But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Cesar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of. ²⁰ For this cause therefore have I called foryou, to see and to speak with [you]: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.

¹ Now I Paul my self beseech you, by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent [am] bold toward you.

²³ Are they ministers of Christ? I speak as a fool, I [am] more: in labours more abundant, in prisons more frequent, in stripes above measure, in deaths oft.

² Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.

¹¹ And I, brethren, if I preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.

¹³ Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.

¹ I therefore the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you, that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

²⁰ For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

⁷ Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace,

¹³ So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other [places]; ¹⁴ And many of the brethren in the Lord waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word of God without fear. ¹⁵ Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will. ¹⁶ But one preach [Christ] of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.

²⁴ Who now rejoice in sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh, for his body's sake, who is the church:

³ Withal, praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:

¹⁸ The salutation by the hand of me Paul. Remember my bonds, Grace [be] with you. Amen.

¹⁵ Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and the prophets, and have persecuted us; and please not God, and are contrary to all men: ¹⁶ Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles, that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath of God is come upon them to the uttermost.

⁸ Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

¹⁶ The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain.

⁹ Wherein I suffer trouble as an evil-doer, unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound. ¹⁰ Therefore I endure all things for the elects sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

¹ PAUL an Apostle of Jesus Christ, and Timothy [a] brother, unto Philemon our beloved brother, and fellow labourer,

⁹ Yet for loves sake I rather beseech [thee], being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner.

²³ There salutes tee Epaphras, my fellow-prisoner in Christ Jesus.

¹⁰ Fear not those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and may have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
