⁹ Then shall they deliver you to be afflicted, and shall kill you; and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

¹⁷ But beware of men; for they will deliver you to the councils, and scourge you in their synagogues. ¹⁸ And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the heathens. ¹⁹ But when they deliver you, take no thought, how or what ye shall speak; for it shall be given you in that very hour what ye shall speak. ²⁰ For it is not ye that speak, but the spirit of the Father who speaketh in you. ²¹ But the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child; and children shall rise up against their parents, and kill them. ²² And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end, shall be saved.

⁶ And the rest laying hold on his servants, treated them shamefully and slew them.

³⁴ Wherefore behold I send to you prophets, and wise-men, and scribes; and some of them ye will kill and crucify, and some of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city:

⁹ But take heed to yourselves for they will deliver you to councils, and ye shall be beaten in synagogues, and shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them. ¹⁰ And the gospel must first be published among all nations. ¹¹ But when they shall hale you and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak; for it is not yet that speak, but the Holy Ghost. ¹² Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son: and children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. ¹³ And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake; but he that endureth to the end, he shall be saved.

⁴⁹ Therefore also the wisdom of God hath said, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will slay, and persecute the rest.

¹² But before all these things they shall lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my names sake.

¹⁶ But ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolk, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. ¹⁷ And ye shall be hated by all men for my names sake.

¹⁹ If ye were of the world, the world would love its own; but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. ²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

² yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you, will think he doth God service.

² and the Saducees came upon them, Being grieved that they had healed the lame man, and preached thro' Jesus the resurrection from the dead. ³ And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold till the next day: for it was now evening.

⁴⁰ And to him they agreed. And having called the apostles, and scourged them, they charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. ⁴¹ And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

⁵⁹ And they stoned Stephen, invoking and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

¹ About that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to afflict a certain of the church. ² And he slew James, the brother of John, with the sword. ³ And perceiving it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to take Peter also. ⁴ (Then were the days of unleavened bread.) Whom having apprehended, he put in prison, delivering him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him, intending to bring him forth to the people after the passover. ⁵ So Peter was kept in the prison; but continual prayer was made to God by the church for him.

³¹ And as they went about to kill him, word came to the tribune of the cohort, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar: ³² Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down to them; and when they saw the tribune and the soldiers, they ceased from beating Paul.

¹⁹ And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned, and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee. ²⁰ And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by and consenting to his death, and kept the garments of them that slew him. ²¹ But he said to me, Depart: for I will send thee far off to the Gentiles. ²² And they heard him to this word, and then lifted up their voice and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth; for it is not fit that he should live.

²² But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest; for concerning this sect, we know, that it is every where spoken against.

¹⁴ For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God in Christ Jesus, which are in Judea; for ye also suffered the same things from your own countrymen, as they likewise from the Jews: ¹⁵ Who both killed the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and have persecuted us: and they please not God, and are contrary to all men. ¹⁶ Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles, that they may be saved, to fill up their sins always: but wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

¹⁶ Yet if any suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

¹⁰ Fear none of those things which thou art about to suffer: behold the devil is about to cast some of you into prison that ye may be tried, and ye shall have affliction ten days: Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.

¹³ I know where thou dwellest, where the throne of Satan is; and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, in the days wherein Antipas, my faithful witness was, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.

⁹ And when he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that had been slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held. ¹⁰ And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, thou Holy One and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell upon the earth? ¹¹ And there was given to them, to every one, a white robe; and it was said to them, that they should rest yet for a time, till their fellow servants also and their brethren should be fulfilled, who should be killed even as they were.

¹⁴ And he said to me, These are they who come out of great affliction, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
