²⁹ He answering said, I will not; but afterward repenting, he went.

² And saying, Repent ye; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. ³ For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying, The voice of one crying aloud in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. ⁴ And this John had his raiment of camels hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his food was locusts and wild honey. ⁵ Then went out to him Jerusalem and all Judea, and all the region round about Jordan, ⁶ And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their Sins. ⁷ But seeing many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, Ye serpents, ye brood of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? ⁸ Bring forth therefore fruit worthy of repentance:

³¹ Which of the two did the will of his father? They say to him, The first. Jesus saith to them, Verily I say to you, the publicans and harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

¹⁷ And coming to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father have bread enough and to spare, and I am perishing with hunger? ¹⁸ I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before thee:

²⁰ But first to them at Damascus and at Jerusalem, and through all the country of Judea, and then to the Gentiles I declare, that they should repent and turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance.

¹¹ And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

¹ And he hath quickened you, ² who were dead in trespasses and sins, Wherein ye formerly walked, according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the sons of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in time past, ³ in the desires of the flesh, doing the will of the flesh and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the others. ⁴ But God who is rich in mercy, ⁵ through his great love wherewith he loved us, Hath quickened us together with Christ, even when we were dead in trespasses, (by grace ye are saved) And hath raised us up together, ⁶ and made us sit together in heavenly places through Christ Jesus: ⁷ That he might shew in the ages to come the exceeding riches of his grace, in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. ⁸ For by grace ye are saved through faith; and this not of yourselves: ⁹ it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. ¹⁰ For we are his workmanship, created through Christ Jesus unto good works, which God had before prepared, that we might walk in them. ¹¹ Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh (who were called the uncircumcision, by that which is called the circumcision made with hands in the flesh) Were at that time without Christ, ¹² being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise; having no hope, and without God in the world. ¹³ But now through Christ Jesus, ye who were once far off are brought nigh by the blood of Christ.

¹⁷ This therefore I say and testify in the Lord, that ye no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles, in the vanity of your mind: ¹⁸ Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, by the ignorance that is in them, through the hardness of their hearts: ¹⁹ Who being past feeling, have given themselves up to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
