⁶ He saith to them, Be not affrighted: ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen: he is not here. Behold the place where they laid him.

⁴⁰ For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

²⁶ And the disciples seeing him walking on the sea, were troubled, saying, It is an apparition: and they cried out for fear. ²⁷ But Jesus immediately spake to them, saying, Take courage: it is I: be not afraid.

⁴ And for fear of him the guards trembled, and became as dead men. ⁵ But the angel answering said to the women, Fear not ye; for I know ye seek Jesus who was crucified. ⁶ He is not here; for he is risen, as he said: come, see the place where the Lord lay. ⁷ And go quickly and tell the disciples, that he is risen from the dead. And behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him.

²⁴ what have we to do with thee, Jesus of Nazareth? Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy one of God.

⁹ And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them to tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead. ¹⁰ And they laid hold on that saying, questioning one with another, What meaneth, Till he were risen from the dead?

³⁴ And they will mock him and scourge him and spit upon him and kill him. And the third day he will rise again.

⁴ behold two men stood by them in shining garments. ⁵ And as they were afraid, and bowed down their face to the earth, they said to them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? ⁶ He is not here, but is risen. Remember how he spake to you being yet in Galilee, ⁷ Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and rise again the third day. ⁸ And they remembered his words,

²⁰ ) How our chief priests and rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, ²¹ and have crucified him, But we trusted that it had been he who should have redeemed Israel. And beside all this, to-day is the third day since these things were done. ²² Yea, and certain women of our company astonished us, who were early at the sepulchre, ²³ And not finding his body, they came, saying, That they had seen also a vision of angels, who say, he is alive. ²⁴ And some of the men who were with us, went to the sepulchre, and found it so as the women had said; but him they saw not. ²⁵ Then he said to them, O foolish, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! ²⁶ Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? ²⁷ And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he explained to them the things in all the scriptures, concerning himself.

⁴⁶ to understand the scriptures, And said to them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple, and I will raise it up in three days. ²⁰ Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou raise it up in three days? ²¹ But he spake of the temple of his body. When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this; ²² and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

¹⁹ And Pilate wrote an inscription also, and put it on the cross: and the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS. ²⁰ Many of the Jews read this inscription; for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.

²² Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man pointed out to you of God, by miracles, and wonders, and signs, which God wrought by him in the midst of you, as yourselves also know: ²³ Him being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands, have crucified and slain:

¹⁰ by what means he is healed, Be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God hath raised from the dead, by him doth this man stand before you whole.

³⁸ How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power, who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed by the devil; for God was with him. ³⁹ And we are witnesses of all things which he did, both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem; whom yet they slew and hanged on a tree. ⁴⁰ Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;

³ For I delivered to you first, that which I also received, That Christ died for our sins, ⁴ according to the scriptures, And that he was buried, and that he was raised the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. ⁵ Afterwards he was seen by above five hundred brethren at once, ⁶ of whom the greater part remain until now, but some are fallen asleep. ⁷ After this he was seen by James, then by all the apostles.

¹⁷ And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead: and he laid his right-hand upon me, saying, Fear not, I am the First and the Last, ¹⁸ And he that liveth and was dead, and behold I am alive for evermore, and have the keys of death and of Hades.
