¹ And there was a famine in the land, besides the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines to Gerar.

¹³ And he changed his behavior before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard. ¹⁴ Then said Achish to his servants, Lo, ye see the man is mad: why then have ye brought him to me? ¹⁵ Have I need of mad-men, that ye have brought this man to play the mad-man in my presence? shall this man come into my house?

⁶ By thee have I been sustained from my birth: thou art he that brought me into life: my praise shall be continually of thee.

⁸ Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honor all the day.

¹⁴ But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more. ¹⁵ My mouth shall show forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof.

¹ David's Psalm of praise. I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. ² Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever.

²⁵ The fear of man bringeth a snare: but he who putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

¹⁵ Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea. ¹⁶ From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe to me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yes, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.

¹⁹ But my God will supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

³ And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. ⁴ Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.

¹⁰ The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken. ¹¹ The old lion perisheth for lack of prey, and the stout lion's whelps are scattered abroad.

¹¹ (84:10)For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a door-keeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

²¹ The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their food from God.

³² (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

⁵¹ He hath shown strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. ⁵² He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. ⁵³ He hath filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he hath sent away empty.

⁸ I will instruct thee, and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with my eye.

¹⁶ Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.

¹⁰ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

⁷ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

¹ My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; ² So that thou incline thy ear to wisdom, and apply thy heart to understanding; ³ Yes, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; ⁴ If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; ⁵ Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. ⁶ For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. ⁷ He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. ⁸ He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints. ⁹ Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; and every good path.

¹⁷ I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

³² Now therefore hearken to me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.

⁶ Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

⁹ Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thy heart, and in the sight of thy eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.

²⁰ That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave to him (for he is thy life, and the length of thy days) that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD swore to thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

⁷ O remember that my life is wind: my eye will no more see good.

⁶ (4:5)Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.

⁴ (21:3)For thou hast met him with the blessings of goodness: thou hast set a crown of pure gold on his head.

¹⁶ With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.

³ I sought in my heart, to give myself to wine, yet acquainting my heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life.

¹³ And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labor, it is the gift of God.

¹³ Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

¹⁰ For he that will love life, and see good days, let him restrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: ¹¹ Let him shun evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and pursue it. ¹² For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

³ Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

⁷ The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.

¹⁹ The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

²² Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.

³ He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

²¹ Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit of it.

⁹ A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.

²³ Whoever keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

⁸ For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Savior.

³⁵ A good man, out of the good treasure of the heart, bringeth forth good things: and an evil man, out of the evil treasure, bringeth forth evil things. ³⁶ But I say to you, That for every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account in the day of judgment. ³⁷ For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

⁹ Lie not one to another, seeing ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

¹⁹ Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

²⁶ If any man among you seemeth to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

² For in many things we all offend. If any man offendeth not in word, the same is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

⁵ Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! ⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire from hell. ⁷ For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of animals in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed by mankind: ⁸ But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. ⁹ With this we bless God, even the Father; and with this we curse men, who are made after the similitude of God. ¹⁰ Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

¹ Wherefore, laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil-speakings,

²² Who committed no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

⁴ These are they who were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they who follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the first-fruits to God and to the Lamb. ⁵ And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.

²⁸ And to man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

²⁷ Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.

⁷ I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.

⁷ Be not wise in thy own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

¹³ The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogance, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

¹⁴ The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

¹⁶ How much better is it to get wisdom than gold? and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver? ¹⁷ The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.

¹⁶ Wash ye, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil; ¹⁷ Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

⁹ Blessed are the peace-makers: for they shall be called children of God.

³⁸ That God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed by the devil; for God was with him.

⁹ Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

¹⁸ If it is possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

¹⁷ For the kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

¹⁹ Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things with which one may edify another.

¹¹ Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.

¹⁰ As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good to all men, especially to them who are of the household of faith.

¹¹ And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

¹⁹ Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth firm, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

¹⁴ Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

¹⁴ Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

¹⁶ But to do good, and to communicate, forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. ¹⁸ And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by them that make peace.

¹¹ Let him shun evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and pursue it.

¹¹ Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

⁴⁰ Now, my God, let, I beseech thee, thy eyes be open, and let thy ears be attentive to the prayer that is made in this place.

⁷ He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yes, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.

¹⁸ Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

⁶ (34:5)They looked to him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.

¹⁷ (34:16)The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

² Lord, hear my voice: let thy ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.

¹⁴ And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up to the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD. ¹⁵ And Hezekiah prayed to the LORD, saying, ¹⁶ O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubim, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth. ¹⁷ Incline thy ear, O LORD, and hear; open thy eyes, O LORD, and see: and hear all the words of Sennacherib, who hath sent to reproach the living God. ¹⁸ Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations, and their countries, ¹⁹ And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them. ²⁰ Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD, even thou only. ²¹ Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Whereas thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria:

¹⁷ Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake. ¹⁸ O my God, incline thy ear, and hear; open thy eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies. ¹⁹ O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thy own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name. ²⁰ And while I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin, and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God; ²¹ Yes, while I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation. ²² And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding. ²³ At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to show thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.

¹² For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

¹⁰ And whatever man there may be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people.

¹⁷ And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you, and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.

¹⁷ His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the street.

¹⁶ The LORD is King for ever and ever: the heathen have perished out of his land.

⁷ The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall perish.

¹⁰ And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: this is also vanity.

¹³ O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters.

¹¹ Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah.

⁷ For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, who separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumbling-block of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to inquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself: ⁸ And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

⁴ And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set my eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.

²⁰ And for this cause Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven. ²¹ And the LORD sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty men of valor, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he had come into the house of his god, they that came forth from his own bowels slew him there with the sword.

²⁴ In those days Hezekiah was sick and near to death, and he prayed to the LORD: and he spoke to him, and he gave him a sign.

¹⁵ (34:14)Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

¹⁹ (34:18)The LORD is nigh to them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as are of a contrite spirit.

¹⁵ He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him.

¹⁸ The LORD is nigh to all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. ¹⁹ He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them. ²⁰ The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy.

²⁴ And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

⁵ Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing by the church to God for him. ⁶ And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains; and the keepers before the door kept the prison. ⁷ And behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison; and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. ⁸ And the angel said to him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals; and so he did. And he saith to him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. ⁹ And he went out, and followed him, and knew not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. ¹⁰ When they were past the first and the second ward, they came to the iron gate that leadeth to the city; which opened to them of its own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him. ¹¹ And when Peter had come to himself, he said, Now I know with certainty, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

¹⁹ Because thy heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before the LORD, when thou heardest what I spoke against this place, and against its inhabitants, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the LORD.

¹⁷ (51:15)O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall show forth thy praise.

³ He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

¹⁵ For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

¹ The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to publish good tidings to the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

² For all these things hath my hand made, and all these things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

²⁶ A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.

³¹ Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities, and for your abominations.

¹⁸ The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

¹⁹ He will deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

⁹ And now I am their song, yes, I am their by-word. ¹⁰ They abhor me, they flee far from me, and spare not to spit in my face. ¹¹ Because he hath loosed my cord, and afflicted me, they have also let loose the bridle before me. ¹² Upon my right hand rise the youth; they push away my feet, and they raise up against me the ways of their destruction. ¹³ They mar my path, they set forward my calamity, they have no helper. ¹⁴ They came upon me as a wide breaking in of waters: in the desolation they rolled themselves upon me. ¹⁵ Terrors are turned upon me: they pursue my soul as the wind: and my welfare passeth away as a cloud. ¹⁶ And now my soul is poured out upon me; the days of affliction have taken hold upon me. ¹⁷ My bones are pierced in me in the night season: and my sinews take no rest. ¹⁸ By the great force of my disease is my garment changed: it bindeth me about as the collar of my coat. ¹⁹ He hath cast me into the mire, and I have become like dust and ashes. ²⁰ I cry to thee, and thou dost not hear me: I stand up, and thou regardest me not. ²¹ Thou hast become cruel to me: with thy strong hand thou opposest thyself against me. ²² Thou liftest me up to the wind; thou causest me to ride upon it, and dissolvest my substance. ²³ For I know that thou wilt bring me to death, and to the house appointed for all living. ²⁴ Yet he will not stretch out his hand to the grave, though they cry in his destruction. ²⁵ Did not I weep for him that was in trouble? was not my soul grieved for the poor? ²⁶ When I looked for good, then evil came: and when I waited for light, there came darkness. ²⁷ My bowels boiled, and rested not: the days of affliction came upon me. ²⁸ I went mourning without the sun: I stood up, and I cried in the congregation. ²⁹ I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls. ³⁰ My skin is black upon me, and my bones are burned with heat. ³¹ My harp also is turned to mourning, and my organ into the voice of them that weep.

¹² So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses.

⁴ (34:3)O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.

²⁰ Thou, who hast shown me great and severe troubles, wilt revive me again, and wilt bring me again from the depths of the earth.

¹⁶ For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

³³ These things I have spoken to you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye will have tribulation, but be of good cheer: I have overcome the world.

²² Confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

⁷ But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God, and not from us. ⁸ We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; ⁹ Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; ¹⁰ Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be made manifest in our body. ¹¹ For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus may be made manifest in our mortal flesh. ¹² So then death worketh in us, but life in you.

¹⁷ For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh out for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

²³ Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labors more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths often. ²⁴ From the Jews five times I received forty stripes save one. ²⁵ Thrice was I beaten with rods, once I was stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; ²⁶ In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by my own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; ²⁷ In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

³ That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed to it. ⁴ For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.

¹¹ Persecutions, afflictions which came to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. ¹² And all indeed that will live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

³³ Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, ³⁴ Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. ³⁵ Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: ³⁶ And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, and, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: ³⁷ They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheep-skins, and goat-skins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; ³⁸ (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

¹⁰ Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. ¹¹ Behold, we count them happy who endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

¹² Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you: ¹³ But rejoice, seeing ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

¹⁰ All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like thee, who deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, even the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?

¹² They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

²² (6:21)Then said Daniel to the king, O king, live for ever. ²³ (6:22)My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocence was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt. ²⁴ (6:23)Then was the king exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel out of the den. So Daniel was taken out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.

³⁶ For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.

⁷ Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

⁴ And Jonathan spoke good of David to Saul his father, and said to him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works have been toward thee very good: ⁵ For he put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, and the LORD wrought a great salvation for all Israel: thou sawest it, and didst rejoice: Why then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause?

⁴ Then said Saul to his armor-bearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through with it; lest these uncircumcised should come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armor-bearer would not; for he was exceedingly afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.

⁸ And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

³⁷ So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.

¹² The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth. ¹³ The Lord will laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming. ¹⁴ The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as are of upright deportment. ¹⁵ Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.

³⁰ The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment. ³¹ The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide. ³² The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him. ³³ The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged. ³⁴ Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he will exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it. ³⁵ I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree. ³⁶ Yet he passed away, and lo, he was not: yes, I sought him, but he could not be found. ³⁷ Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace. ³⁸ But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off. ³⁹ But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble. ⁴⁰ And the LORD will help them, and deliver them: he will deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

¹⁵ (40:14)Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.

²³ (89:22)The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him.

²³ And he will bring upon them their own iniquity, and will cut them off in their own wickedness; yes, the LORD our God will cut them off.

¹¹ Woe to the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

¹⁴ But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.

²⁷ But those my enemies, who would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

⁴¹ And when he had come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, ⁴² Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong to thy peace! but now they are hid from thy eyes. ⁴³ For the days shall come upon thee, that thy enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and encompass thee, and keep thee in on every side, ⁴⁴ And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee: and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another: because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

⁷ The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify concerning it, that its works are evil.

¹⁸ If the world hateth you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. ¹⁹ If ye were of the world, the world would love its own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. ²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. ²¹ But all these things will they do to you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me. ²² If I had not come and spoken to them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. ²³ He that hateth me, hateth my Father also.

¹⁵ Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: ¹⁶ Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved, to fill up their sins always: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

⁶ Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;

⁹ Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

⁹ And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said to them, As the LORD liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,

²⁹ And the king swore, and said, As the LORD liveth, that hath redeemed my soul out of all distress,

⁹ (9:8)And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness. ¹⁰ (9:9)The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

¹¹ (84:10)For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a door-keeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. ¹² (84:11)For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

⁴ Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with loving-kindness and tender mercies;

⁸ And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

⁵⁸ O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.

²⁷ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: ²⁸ And I give to them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any pluck them out of my hand. ²⁹ My Father, who gave them to me, is greater than all; and none is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

³¹ What shall we then say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? ³² He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? ³³ Who will lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth: ³⁴ Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, or rather that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. ³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ³⁶ As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. ³⁷ But in all these things we are more than conquerors, through him that loved us. ³⁸ For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, ³⁹ Nor hight, nor depth, nor any other creature, will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

⁵ Who are kept by the power of God through faith to salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

¹⁸ Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain course of life received by tradition from your fathers; ¹⁹ But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

⁹ And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals of it: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and language, and people, and nation;
