Leviticus 16:2-19

2 And the LORD said to Moses, Speak to Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail, before the mercy-seat, which is upon the ark; that he may not die: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy-seat. 3 Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin-offering, and a ram for a burnt-offering. 4 He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with the linen girdle, and with the linen miter shall he be attired: these are holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and so put them on. 5 And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin-offering, and one ram for a burnt-offering. 6 And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin-offering, which is for himself, and make an atonement for himself, and for his house. 7 And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. 8 And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scape-goat. 9 And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the LORD'S lot fell, and offer him for a sin-offering. 10 But the goat on which the lot fell to be the scape-goat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scape-goat into the wilderness. 11 And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin-offering, which is for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin-offering which is for himself: 12 And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail: 13 And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy-seat that is upon the testimony, that he may not die. 14 And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy-seat eastward: and before the mercy-seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times. 15 Then shall he kill the goat of the sin-offering that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy-seat, and before the mercy-seat: 16 And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness. 17 And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he shall come out, and shall have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel. 18 And he shall go out to the altar that is before the LORD, and make an atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about. 19 And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.

Deuteronomy 18:15-19

15 The LORD thy God will raise up to thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like to me; to him ye shall hearken. 16 According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I may not die. 17 And the LORD said to me, They have well spoken of that which they have spoken. 18 I will raise up to them a prophet from among their brethren, like thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him. 19 And it shall come to pass, that whoever will not hearken to my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

Psalms 2:1-12

1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, 3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. 4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. 5 Then shall he speak to them in his wrath, and trouble them in his sore displeasure. 6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. 7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said to me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. 8 Ask of me, and I will give thee the heathen for thy inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. 9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. 10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

Psalms 16:9-11

9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. 10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thy Holy One to see corruption. 11 Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand are pleasures for evermore.

Psalms 22:1-31

1 +2 (22:1)To the chief Musician upon Aijeleth Shahar, A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? 3 (22:2)O my God, I cry in the day-time, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent. 4 (22:3)But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. 5 (22:4)Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them. 6 (22:5)They cried to thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded. 7 (22:6)But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people. 8 (22:7)All they that see me deride me: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, 9 (22:8)He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him. 10 (22:9)But thou art he that brought me forth into life: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts. 11 (22:10)I was cast upon thee from my birth: thou art my God from the time I was born. 12 (22:11)Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help. 13 (22:12)Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round. 14 (22:13)They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion. 15 (22:14)I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. 16 (22:15)My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death. 17 (22:16)For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. 18 (22:17)I may number all my bones: they look and stare upon me. 19 (22:18)They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture. 20 (22:19)But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me. 21 (22:20)Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog. 22 (22:21)Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns. 23 (22:22)I will declare thy name to my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee. 24 (22:23)Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel. 25 (22:24)For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried to him, he heard. 26 (22:25)My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him. 27 (22:26)The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever. 28 (22:27)All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee. 29 (22:28)For the kingdom is the LORD'S: and he is the governor among the nations. 30 (22:29)All they that are fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul. 31 (22:30)A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.

Psalms 40:6-8

6 (40:5)Many, O LORD, my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are toward us, they cannot be reckoned up in order to thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered. 7 (40:6)Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; my ears hast thou opened: burnt-offering and sin-offering hast thou not required. 8 (40:7)Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

Psalms 69:1-36

1 +2 (69:1)To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, A Psalm of David. Save me, O God; for the waters are come in to my soul. 3 (69:2)I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. 4 (69:3)I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: my eyes fail while I wait for my God. 5 (69:4)They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head: they that would destroy me, being my enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away. 6 (69:5)O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee. 7 (69:6)Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel. 8 (69:7)Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face. 9 (69:8)I am become a stranger to my brethren, and an alien to my mother's children. 10 (69:9)For the zeal of thy house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee have fallen upon me. 11 (69:10)When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach. 12 (69:11)I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them. 13 (69:12)They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards. 14 (69:13)But as for me, my prayer is to thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation. 15 (69:14)Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters. 16 (69:15)Let not the water-flood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me. 17 (69:16)Hear me, O LORD; for thy loving-kindness is good: turn to me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies. 18 (69:17)And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily. 19 (69:18)Draw nigh to my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of my enemies. 20 (69:19)Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonor: my adversaries are all before thee. 21 (69:20)Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. 22 (69:21)They gave me also gall for my food; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. 23 (69:22)Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap. 24 (69:23)Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake. 25 (69:24)Pour out thy indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them. 26 (69:25)Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents. 27 (69:26)For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded. 28 (69:27)Add iniquity to their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness. 29 (69:28)Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous. 30 (69:29)But I am poor and sorrowful: let thy salvation, O God, set me up on high. 31 (69:30)I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving. 32 (69:31)This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs. 33 (69:32)The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God. 34 (69:33)For the LORD heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners. 35 (69:34)Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moveth therein. 36 (69:35)For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession.

Psalms 72:1-20

1 A Psalm for Solomon. Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness to the king's son. 2 He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment. 3 The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness. 4 He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor. 5 They shall fear thee as long as the sun and moon endure, throughout all generations. 6 He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth. 7 In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth. 8 He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river to the ends of the earth. 9 They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him; and his enemies shall lick the dust. 10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts. 11 Yes, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him. 12 For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper. 13 He shall spare the poor and needy, and shall save the souls of the needy. 14 He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall be their blood in his sight. 15 And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be praised. 16 There shall be a handful of corn in the earth upon the top of the mountains; the fruit of it shall shake like Lebanon: and they of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth. 17 His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed. 18 Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things. 19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and amen. 20 The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.

Psalms 88:1-18

1 +2 (88:1)A Song or Psalm for the sons of Korah, to the chief Musician upon Mahalath Leannoth, Maschil of Heman the Ezrahite. O LORD God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before thee: 3 (88:2)Let my prayer come before thee: incline thy ear to my cry; 4 (88:3)For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh to the grave. 5 (88:4)I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that hath no strength: 6 (88:5)Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou rememberest no more: and they are cut off from thy hand. 7 (88:6)Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps. 8 (88:7)Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted me with all thy waves. Selah. 9 (88:8)Thou hast put away my acquaintance far from me; thou hast made me an abomination to them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth. 10 (88:9)My eye mourneth by reason of affliction: LORD, I have called daily upon thee, I have stretched out my hands to thee. 11 (88:10)Wilt thou show wonders to the dead? shall the dead arise and praise thee? Selah. 12 (88:11)Shall thy loving-kindness be declared in the grave? or thy faithfulness in destruction? 13 (88:12)Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? and thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness? 14 (88:13)But to thee have I cried, O LORD; and in the morning shall my prayer come before thee. 15 (88:14)LORD, why castest thou off my soul? why hidest thou thy face from me? 16 (88:15)I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up: while I suffer thy terrors I am distracted. 17 (88:16)Thy fierce wrath goeth over me; thy terrors have cut me off. 18 (88:17)They came around me daily like water; they encompassed me together.

Psalms 109:4-20

4 For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself to prayer. 5 And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love. 6 Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand. 7 When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin. 8 Let his days be few; and let another take his office. 9 Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow. 10 Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places. 11 Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let strangers spoil his labor. 12 Let there be none to extend mercy to him: neither let there be any to favor his fatherless children. 13 Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out. 14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out. 15 Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth. 16 Because that he remembered not to show mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart. 17 As he loved cursing, so let it come to him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him. 18 As he clothed himself with cursing like as with his garment, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones. 19 Let it be to him as the garment which covereth him, and for a girdle with which he is girded continually. 20 Let this be the reward of my adversaries from the LORD, and of them that speak evil against my soul.

Psalms 110:1-7

1 A Psalm of David. The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thy enemies thy footstool. 2 The LORD will send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thy enemies. 3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness: from the womb of the morning, thou hast the dew of thy youth. 4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedek. 5 The Lord at thy right hand will strike through kings in the day of his wrath. 6 He will judge among the heathen, he will fill the places with the dead bodies; he will wound the heads over many countries. 7 He will drink of the brook in the way: therefore will he lift up the head.

Isaiah 11:1-10

1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots: 2 And the spirit of the LORD will rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; 3 And will make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he will not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: 4 But with righteousness will he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he will smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips will he slay the wicked. 5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins. 6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. 7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 And the suckling child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the den of the basilisk. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. 10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

Isaiah 40:1-11

1 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. 2 Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry to her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received from the LORD'S hand double for all her sins. 3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. 4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain. 5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh together shall see it: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it. 6 The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all its goodliness is as the flower of the field: 7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. 8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall shall stand forever. 9 O Zion, that bringest good tidings, go up upon the high mountain: O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say to the cities of Judah, Behold your God! 10 Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm will rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. 11 He will feed his flock like a shepherd: he will gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and will gently lead those that are with young.

Isaiah 42:1-4

1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; my elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. 2 He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street. 3 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment to truth. 4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he hath set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.

Isaiah 49:1-8

1 Listen to me, O Isles; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. 2 And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shade of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me; 3 And said to me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified. 4 Then I said, I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for naught, and in vain; yet surely my judgment is with the LORD, and my work with my God. 5 And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength. 6 And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldst be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation to the end of the earth. 7 Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee. 8 Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages:

Isaiah 50:2-6

2 Why, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish becometh putrid, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst. 3 I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering. 4 The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth my ear to hear as the learned. 5 The Lord GOD opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back. 6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to publish good tidings to the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; 3 To appoint to them that mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified.

Daniel 9:24-27

24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. 25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem to the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and sixty and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 26 And after sixty and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and its end shall be with a flood, and to the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations, he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Hosea 1:7-11

7 But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by the LORD their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen. 8 Now when she had weaned Lo-ruhamah, she conceived, and bore a son. 9 Then said God, Call his name Lo-ammi: for ye are not my people, and I will not be your God. 10 Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said to them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said to them, Ye are the sons of the living God. 11 Then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be assembled, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up from the land: for great shall be the day of Jezreel.

So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. 13 And the LORD said to me, Cast it to the potter: a goodly price that I was prized at by them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD.

And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home. 28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. 29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. 30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and expired. 31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath, (for that sabbath was a great day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. 32 Then came the soldiers, and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who was crucified with him. 33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they broke not his legs: 34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came out blood and water. 35 And he that saw it, testified, and his testimony is true: and he knoweth that he speaketh truth, that ye may believe. 36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. 37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
