¹⁰ So they kept this word to themselves, questioning what the ‘rising from the dead’ meant.

²² So taking Him aside Peter began to rebuke Him saying: “Grace to you, Lord! This shall not happen to you!”

³² But they were not understanding this information, yet were afraid to ask Him.

⁵⁰ But they did not understand the statement that He made to them. ⁵¹ Then He went down with them and came to Natsareth, and continued subordinating Himself to them; His mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

³³ and they will scourge and kill Him. And on the third day He will rise again.” ³⁴ But they understood none of these things; this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know what was being said.

⁷ saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again’.” ⁸ And they remembered His words.

²⁵ Then He said to them: “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the Prophets have spoken! ²⁶ Was it really not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things, and to enter into His glory?” ²⁷ And beginning from Moses, and then all the Prophets, He explained to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it.” ²⁰ So the Jews said, “It took forty-six years to build this temple, and you will raise it in three days?!” ²¹ But He was speaking about the temple of His body. ²² Therefore, when He was raised from among the dead His disciples remembered that He had said this; so they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.

¹⁶ (Now His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him, and they had done them to Him.)

³³ (Now He said this to indicate by what kind of death He was about to die.) ³⁴ The people answered Him, “We have heard from the Law that the Messiah remains forever; and so how can you say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Man?”

¹⁷ Then some of His disciples said among themselves “What is this that He’s telling us, ‘In just a little you won’t see me, and in another little you will see me,’ and because ‘I am going to the Father’?” ¹⁸ So they said: “What is this ‘little’ that He mentions? We don’t know what He’s talking about.” ¹⁹ Well Jesus knew that they were wanting to question Him and said to them: “Are you inquiring among yourselves about what I said, ‘In just a little you won’t see me, and in another little you will see me’?

²⁹ His disciples say to Him: “Hey, now you are speaking plainly and using no figure of speech! ³⁰ Now we know that you know everything and don’t need anyone to question you. By this we believe that you came forth from God.”

¹⁸ Then certain philosophers, both Epicureans and Stoics, encountered him. Some said, “What might this idea-scavenger want to say?” Others said, “He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign deities”—because he was preaching Jesus and the resurrection.
