³⁷ If anyone thinks that he is a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things I write to you are the Lord’s commands.

¹⁶ “He who listens to you listens to me, and he who rejects you rejects me; but he who rejects me rejects Him who sent me!”

³ Based on the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to set your sights higher than you should, but set them sensibly, as God has apportioned a measure of faith to each.

²⁵ Now about the virgins I have no command from the Lord, but I give my judgment as one who has obtained mercy from the Lord to be trustworthy.

⁴⁰ But she is more blessed if she remains as she is, according to my judgment—and I think I also have God’s Spirit.

² And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he has come to know nothing yet as he ought to know.

¹ If I speak the languages of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become a sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. ² And if I have prophecy and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. ³ Even if I give away all my possessions and hand over my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

⁷ Do you only look at the ‘face’ of things? If anyone has persuaded himself that he is Christ’s, let him consider this again with himself, that just as he is Christ’s, so also we are Christ’s.

¹² Now we do not dare to class or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves; but they, measuring themselves by themselves and comparing themselves with themselves, are without understanding.

⁴ For if someone comes and preaches another ‘Jesus’ whom we did not preach, or you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you easily put up with it.

¹² Further, I will keep on doing what I do in order to cut off the opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be considered equal with us in the things of which they boast. ¹³ Such men are really false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into ‘apostles’ of Christ. ¹⁴ And no wonder, because Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. ¹⁵ So it is no great thing if his servants also masquerade as ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

⁸ —he who sows to his own flesh will reap deterioration from that flesh; he who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from that Spirit.

¹ Finally then, brothers, we urge and exhort you in the Lord Jesus: as you received from us how you ought to behave and please God, do so even more ² —you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus. ³ Now this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you stay away from fornication; ⁴ that each of you know how to gain possession of his own ‘vessel’ in sanctification and honor, ⁵ not in lustful passion (like the heathen who don’t know God); ⁶ that no one trespass and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such behavior, as, indeed, we have already told you and warned you. ⁷ Because God did not call us for uncleanness, but by holiness. ⁸ So then, the rejecter is not rejecting man, but God, the very One who gave you His Holy Spirit.

⁶ We are of God: he who knows God listens to us; he who is not of God doesn’t listen to us—by this we know the Spirit of the Truth and the spirit of the deception.
