²⁵ Let your father and your mother be glad! Let her who bore you rejoice!

⁹ Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother named him Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him with sorrow.” ¹⁰ Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my border! ²⁷ It came to pass, as he said these things, a certain woman out of the multitude lifted up her voice, and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts which nursed you!” ²⁸ But he said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it.”
