⁵ He said, “Peaceably; I have come to sacrifice to Yahweh. Sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice.” He sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.

⁵ It was so, when the days of their feasting had run their course, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned, and renounced God in their hearts.” Job did so continually.

² Examine me, Yahweh, and prove me. Try my heart and my mind. ³ For your loving kindness is before my eyes. I have walked in your truth. ⁴ I have not sat with deceitful men, neither will I go in with hypocrites. ⁵ I hate the assembly of evildoers, and will not sit with the wicked. ⁶ I will wash my hands in innocence, so I will go about your altar, Yahweh,

¹⁶ Gather the people. Sanctify the assembly. Assemble the elders. Gather the children, and those who nurse from breasts. Let the bridegroom go out of his room, and the bride out of her room.

²⁸ But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread, and drink of the cup.
