¹ Now Naomi had a relative of her husband, a prominent rich man from the clan of Elimelech, whose name was Boaz.

¹⁷ Say not then, in your hearts, My power and the strength of my hands have got me this wealth. ¹⁸ But you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore to your fathers, as it is today.

⁸ After him Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel. ⁹ He had thirty sons and thirty daughters. He gave his daughters in marriage outside the clan and brought thirty young women from outside the clan for his sons to marry. Ibzan led Israel for seven years, ¹⁰ Then Ibzan died and was buried in Bethlehem.

² And the man's name was Elimelech, and his wife's name was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion Ephrathites of Bethlehem, Judah. And they came to the land of Moab, and remained there.

² Now isn’t Boaz our kinsman, with whose maidens you were? Behold, he will be winnowing barley tonight on the threshing floor.

¹² And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman: yet there is a kinsman nearer than I.

²¹ Salmon became the father of Boaz, and Boaz became the father of Obed.

¹⁰ Ram was the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab the father of Nahshon, the leader of the people of Judah. ¹¹ Nahshon was the father of Salmon, Salmon the father of Boaz, ¹² Boaz the father of Obed and Obed the father of Jesse.
