⁷ See what pours out of their mouths, swords from their lips! They think: Who will hear us?

¹² "Is not God in the height of the heavens? But see how lofty are the highest stars. ¹³ Yet you say, What does El know? Can He judge through murkiness?

¹¹ He says in his heart, "God has forgotten. He has hidden his face. He never sees."

¹³ Why does the wicked person condemn God and say in his heart, God won't call me into account?

²¹ His mouth was smooth as butter, but his heart was war. His words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.

⁴ My soul is among lions; I lie among those on fire, the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

³ who sharpen their tongues like swords, and aim their bitter words like arrows, ⁴ to shoot in secret at the blameless; they will shoot him suddenly, and will not fear. ⁵ They encourage themselves in evil plans. They talk about laying snares secretly. They say, "Who will see them?"

¹¹ Then they say, "How can God know? Does the Most High have knowledge?"

⁴ They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers boast.

⁷ They say, "The LORD cannot see, and the God of Jacob will not notice." ⁸ Consider, you senseless among the people; you fools, when will you be wise? ⁹ He who implanted the ear, won't he hear? He who formed the eye, won't he see?

² Wicked and deceitful people have opened their mouths against me. They speak against me with lying tongues. ³ And, with words of hatred, have they surrounded me, and have made war upon me without cause:

¹⁸ The babbler is like the stabs of a sword; and the tongue of the wise is healing.

² The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of fools gush out folly.

²⁸ The heart of the righteous weighs answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes out evil.

²⁴ "Haven't you noticed what these people have been saying? 'The LORD rejected the two families that he had chosen!' They have contempt for my people and no longer consider them a nation.

³⁴ You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.
