¹ For the music director. Of David. The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt. They do abominable deeds. There is none who does good.

⁵ the LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become. Every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.

¹¹ The earth was corrupt in God's sight. It was full of violence. ¹² God saw how corrupt the earth had become. All the people on earth had corrupted their ways.

²⁵ Let my lord give no attention to Nabal, that good-for-nothing: for as his name is, so is he, a man without sense: but I, your servant, did not see the young men whom my lord sent.

¹⁶ how much less man, who is vile and corrupt, who drinks up evil like water!

¹³ Yet you say, What does El know? Can He judge through murkiness?

⁴ The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek. All his thoughts are "There is no God."

¹ For the Chief Musician. By David, the servant of the LORD. An oracle is within my heart about the disobedience of the wicked: There is no fear of God before his eyes. ² For he flatters himself in his own eyes, too much to detect and hate his sin. ³ The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit. He has ceased to be wise and to do good. ⁴ He plans sin on his bed. He puts himself on a way that is not good. He does not reject evil.

¹ For the music director. A maskil of David. When Doeg the Edomite came and informed Saul. And he said to him, "David has come to the house of Ahimelech." Why do you boast about evil, O mighty man? The loyal love of God endures ⌊continually⌋. ² Your tongue devises woes, Like a honed razor, you who practice deceit." ³ You love evil more than good, lying rather than speaking the truth. Selah. ⁴ You love all pernicious words, O you deceitful tongue." ⁵ but God will pull you down forever. He will snatch you and tear you away from your tent, and he will uproot you from the land of the living. Selah ⁶ And the righteous will see and fear, and will laugh at him, saying,

¹ For the music director, according to Mahalath. A maskil of David. The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt and they have done abominable iniquity. There is none who does good.

³ For I was envious of the arrogant, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

⁶ An animal-like man does not know; a fool does not understand this.

⁴ They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers boast. ⁵ They crush your people, O LORD; they oppress your inheritance. ⁶ They kill the widow and the alien, and murder the fatherless. ⁷ They say, "The LORD cannot see, and the God of Jacob will not notice." ⁸ Consider, you senseless among the people; you fools, when will you be wise?

¹⁷ Because of their rebellious ways, fools suffered for their iniquities.

⁷ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

²² "How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? How long will mockers delight themselves in mockery, and fools hate knowledge?

¹⁹ Longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but fools detest turning from evil.

²² Though thou pound a fool in a mortar, amidst grain, with a pestle, his folly, will not depart from him.

⁴ Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evil-doers, children that deal corruptly; they have forsaken the LORD, they have contemned the Holy One of Israel, they are turned away backward.

³⁴ You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.

¹⁹ For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, and slander.

²⁰ But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your soul will be demanded of you. Then who will have all you have prepared?'

¹⁹ And this is the verdict: The Light has come into the world, but men loved the darkness rather than the Light, because their deeds were evil. ²⁰ Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.

²¹ Because, although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or give him thanks, but their thinking became nonsense, and their foolish heart was darkened. ²² Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools, ²³ and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. ²⁴ Therefore God gave them up in the desires of their hearts to impurity for the dishonoring of their bodies with one another. ²⁵ They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator, who is forever worthy of praise! Amen. ²⁶ For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. ²⁷ Likewise, the men abandoned natural relations with women and burned with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. ²⁸ And since they did not see fit to retain the knowledge of God, God gave them over to a base mind, to do what ought not to be done. ²⁹ They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and hatred. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They are gossips, ³⁰ slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant, and boastful. They invent new forms of evil; they disobey their parents. ³¹ They are senseless, faithless, heartless, merciless. ³² Though they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

¹⁰ As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; ¹¹ there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. ¹² All have turned away; they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.

¹ As for you, you were dead in your trespasses and sins, ² in which you used to walk when you conformed to the ways of this world and of the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit who is now at work in the sons of disobedience. ³ We all lived among them at one time in the cravings of our flesh, indulging its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature children of wrath.

¹² that at that time you were apart from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and strangers to the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.

¹⁶ They profess to know God, but by their actions they disown Him; they are detestable, disobedient, and useless for anything good.

³ For at one time we too were foolish, disobedient, misled, enslaved to all sorts of desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

⁸ But to the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and sexually immoral and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death.”
