⁴⁵ The good man brings good things out of the good treasure of his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil treasure of his heart. For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.

² Everyone lies to his neighbor. They speak with flattering lips, and with a double heart. ³ May the LORD cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that boasts, ⁴ They say: "We will overcome with our tongues. With lips such as ours, who can be our master?"

³⁰ The mouth of the righteous uttereth wisdom, and his tongue speaketh what is just. ³¹ The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slide.

⁸ I delight to do your will, O my God: yes, your law is within my heart. ⁹ I have proclaimed glad news of righteousness in the great assembly. Look, I will not seal my lips, LORD, you know. ¹⁰ I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart. I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation. I have not concealed Your grace and Your truth from the great assembly.

⁶ And when one comes to see me, he speaks falsely; his heart gathers disaster for itself. He goes out to the street; he speaks. ⁷ All who hate me whisper together against me. They imagine the worst for me.

² Your tongue devises woes, Like a honed razor, you who practice deceit." ³ You love evil more than good, lying rather than speaking the truth. Selah. ⁴ You love all pernicious words, O you deceitful tongue."

⁷ See what pours out of their mouths, swords from their lips! They think: Who will hear us?

¹² For the sin of their mouth, and the words of their lips, let them be caught in their pride, for the curses and lies which they utter.

³ who sharpen their tongues like swords, and aim their bitter words like arrows, ⁴ to shoot in secret at the blameless; they will shoot him suddenly, and will not fear. ⁵ They encourage themselves in evil plans. They talk about laying snares secretly. They say, "Who will see them?" ⁶ They plot injustice, saying, We have made a perfect plan! Surely man's mind and heart are cunning. ⁷ But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly they shall be wounded. ⁸ Their own tongues shall ruin them; all who see them will shake their heads.

¹⁵ My mouth will tell about your righteousness, and of your salvation all day, though I don’t know its full measure. ¹⁶ I will come in to tell the mighty deeds of Sovereign LORD. I will make known your righteousness, yours only. ¹⁷ O God, you have taught me from my youth: and to this day have I declared your wondrous works. ¹⁸ And even when I am old and gray, O God, do not forsake me, until I declare your strength to this generation, your power to all who are to come.

⁵ The proud have hidden a snare for me, they have spread the cords of a net by the path. They have set traps for me. Selah.

²³ Above all else, guard thy heart; for out of it flows the issues of life.

²⁰ The tongue of the righteous is like choice silver; the heart of the wicked is of little worth. ²¹ The lips of the righteous feed many; but fools die for lack of wisdom.

¹⁸ The babbler is like the stabs of a sword; and the tongue of the wise is healing.

²³ A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, and how good is a word in its season!

¹⁷ Pay attention and listen to the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my teaching, ¹⁸ For it is a delight to keep them in your heart, to have them ready on your lips.

² Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place for traveling men, that I might leave my people and go away from them! For they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men. ³ They use their tongues like a bow. Lies rather than truth fly throughout the land. They progress from one evil to another, and they don't know me," declares the LORD. ⁴ Everyone beware of his neighbor, and do not trust any brother! For every brother will supplant his neighbor, and will walk with slanders. ⁵ Friends deceive each other, and will not speak the truth. They have taught their tongue to speak lies. They weary themselves commiting iniquity.

³⁴ You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. ³⁵ The good man brings good things out of his good store of treasure, and the evil man brings evil things out of his evil store of treasure. ³⁶ But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. ³⁷ For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

³⁸ Whoever believes in Me, just as the Scripture has said: ‘Streams of living water will flow from within him.’”

³ Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and withhold some of the proceeds from the land?

¹⁹ saying, "Give me also this power, so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit." ²⁰ But Peter replied, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! ²¹ You have no part or share in our ministry, because your heart is not right before God. ²² Repent, therefore, of your wickedness, and pray to the Lord. Perhaps He will forgive you for the intent of your heart. ²³ For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and captive to iniquity.”

¹³ Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit; the venom of vipers is on their lips; ¹⁴ Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.

⁶ For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. ⁷ But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.

⁸ Though I am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,

²⁹ Let no unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building up the one in need and bringing grace to those who listen.

³ But among you, as is proper among the saints, there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality or impurity or greed. ⁴ Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk, or crude joking, which are out of character, but rather thanksgiving.

¹⁹ Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your hearts to the Lord,

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

⁶ Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

¹⁰ For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord: I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

⁵ So also the tongue is a small member and makes great boasts. Behold, how great a forest is set on fire by a little spark! ⁶ The tongue also is a fire, a world of wickedness among the parts of the body. It pollutes the whole person, sets the course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. ⁷ All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, ⁸ But no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

¹⁵ to execute judgment on all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him."
