³ Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We will go with you." They went out and got into the boat; but that night they caught nothing.

¹ The sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See now, the place where we live and meet with you is too small for us. ² Let's go to the Jordan River, fashion some rafters, and build a place for us so we can live there." So he said, "Go!" ³ And one of them said, Be pleased to go with your servants. And he said, I will go. ⁴ And he went with them, and they came to the Jordan, and began to cut down wood. ⁵ But as one was cutting down a tree, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed. ⁶ And the man of God said, Where did it fall? And he showed him the place. And he cut a stick and threw it in there, and made the iron float. ⁷ And he said: Take it up. And he put out his hand, and took it.

¹⁸ As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. ¹⁹ “Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” ²⁰ So at once they left their nets and followed him.

⁵ Simon answered, "Master, we have worked hard all night and caught nothing. But if you say so, I'll lower the nets."

¹⁰ and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men." ¹¹ And they brought the boats to land and left everything and followed him.

³ and because he was of the same trade--that of tent-maker--he lodged with them and worked with them.

³⁴ You yourselves know that these hands of mine have ministered to my own needs and those of my companions.

⁷ So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.

⁶ Or have only I and Barnabas no right not to be working?

⁹ Surely you remember, brothers, our toil and exertion, because working night and day, so as not to burden any of you, we proclaimed the Gospel of God to you.

⁷ For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, ⁸ nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. Instead, in labor and toil, we worked night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you. ⁹ We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves an example for you to follow.
