⁸ Your wickedness affects a man like yourself, And your righteousness a son of humanity.

² "I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you. I will make your name great. You will be a blessing.

²⁴ What if there are fifty righteous within the city? Will you consume and not spare the place for the fifty righteous who are in it? ²⁵ Far be it from you to do such a thing as this, to kill the righteous with the wicked, that the righteous would be as the wicked! Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do justice?" ²⁶ the LORD said, “If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare the whole place for their sake.” ²⁷ Then Abraham answered and said, Now I have taken upon me to speak to my Lord, I who am but dust and ashes! ²⁸ "Suppose there were five less than the fifty righteous. Would you destroy the entire city for lack of five?" So He (God) said: "If I find there forty-five, I will not destroy it." ²⁹ And once again he spoke to him and said, "What if forty are found there?" And he answered, "I will not do it on account of the forty." ³⁰ And he said, "Please, let not my Lord be angry, and I will speak. What if thirty be found there?" And he answered, "I will not do it if I find thirty there." ³¹ He said, "See now, I have taken it on myself to speak to the Lord. What if there are twenty found there?" He said, "I will not destroy it for the twenty's sake." ³² He said, Oh don't let the Lord be angry, and I will speak just once more. What if ten are found there? He said, I will not destroy it for the ten's sake. ³³ And when the LORD had finished speaking to Abraham, then Abraham returned to his place.

²⁹ When God destroyed the cities of the plain, God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the middle of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot lived.

¹ But the Israelites broke faith concerning the devoted things. Achan son of Carmi son of Zabdi son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took from the devoted things; and the LORD's anger was kindled against the Israelites. ² Now Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is near Beth Aven, east of Bethel, and he said to them, "Go up and spy out Ai." And the men went up and spied out Ai. ³ And they returned to joshua and said to him, let not all the people go up. but let about two or three thousand men go up and strike ai. do not make all the people labor there, for they are few. ⁴ So about three thousand went up there, but they ran away from the men of Ai. ⁵ The men of Ai killed about thirty-six of them, and they chased them from the gate up to Shebarim and killed them on the slope. And the hearts of the people melted and became like water.

²⁰ Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a sin in the cursed thing, and was there not wrath on all the company of Israel? And he was not the only one to die in his iniquity.

⁸ "So now take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. You did not speak correctly about me, as my servant Job has."

²³ So he said he would exterminate them, had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him, to reverse his wrath from destroying them.

³⁰ Then Phinehas stood and intervened, and the plague was stayed;

¹⁸ Wisdom is better than weapons of war; but one sinner destroys much good.

³⁰ '"I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before me on behalf of the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one.

¹² He replied: "Pick me up and throw me into the sea. Then the sea will be calm for you. I know that it is my fault the great storm came upon you."

²⁴ and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before Caesar. And look, God has granted you the lives of all who sail with you.’

⁷ By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in godly fear built an ark to save his family. By faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.
