⁶ the LORD said to Satan, Behold, he is in your hand. Only spare his life.

¹² The LORD said to Satan, "Look, all that he has is in your power. Only on himself do not put forth your hand." So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

¹⁰ when I fixed limits for it and set its doors and bars in place, ¹¹ when I said: 'This far you may come and no farther'; here is where your proud waves halt?

⁷ who stills the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of the nations.

²⁹ For Jesus had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was bound with chains and shackles, he had broken the chains and been driven by the demon into solitary places. ³⁰ Jesus asked him, What is your name? He said, Legion, because many demons had entered into him. ³¹ And they begged him repeatedly not to command them to go into the Abyss. ³² Now a large herd of swine was feeding there on the hillside; and they begged him to let them enter them. So he gave them permission. ³³ Then the demons came out of the man and went into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned.

³¹ Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. ³² But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith will not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”

¹³ No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it.

¹⁰ Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you, and you will suffer tribulation for ten days. Be faithful even unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.

¹ Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven with the key to the Abyss, holding in his hand a great chain. ² He seized the dragon, the ancient serpent who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.

⁷ When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison,
