Isaiah 5 Cross References - VIN

1 Let me sing to my loved one a song of my beloved concerning his vineyard: My loved one had a vineyard on a fertile hill. 2 He dug it up, gathered out its stones, planted it with the choicest vine, built a tower in its midst, and also cut out a winepress in it. He looked for it to yield grapes, but it yielded wild grapes. 3 And now, dweller of Jerusalem, and man of Judah, judge, pray, between Me and My vineyard, 4 What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? Why, when I looked for it to yield grapes, did it yield wild grapes? 5 Now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard. I will take away its hedge, and it will be eaten up. I will break down its wall, and it will be trampled down. 6 "It will turn into a desert, neither pruned nor cultivated. It will be covered with thorns and briars. I will command the clouds not to send rain." 7 For the vineyard of the LORD Almighty is the house of Israel, and the man of Judah is the plantation of his delight. And he waited for justice, but look! Bloodshed! For righteousness, but look! A cry of distress! 8 Woe to those who join house to house, who lay field to field, till there is no room, and ye be made to dwell alone in the midst of the land! 9 the LORD Almighty swore in my ears, Truly many houses shall be deserted, big and fair, without inhabitant. 10 "A ten-acre vineyard will produce only six gallons of wine, and two quarts of seed will produce only four quarts of grain." 11 Woe to those who rise early in the morning to go after fermented drink, tarrying in the twilight while wine inflames them! 12 And the harp and the viol, the tambourine and flutes and wine are in their feasts; but they do not regard the work of the LORD, nor consider the work of his hands. 13 Therefore my people will go into exile without knowledge, and their nobles will be men of hunger, and their multitude is parched with thirst. 14 Therefore hell has enlarged its desire and opened its mouth without ceasing: and her glorious and great, and her rich and her pestilent men shall go down into it. 15 So man is brought low, mankind is humbled, and the eyes of the arrogant ones are humbled; 16 But the LORD Almighty is exalted by justice, and the holy God shows himself holy by righteousness. 17 Then the lambs will graze as in their pasture, and kids will eat the ruins of the rich. 18 Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of falsehood, and wickedness as with cart rope, 19 those who say, "Let him make haste; let him hurry his work so that we may see it and let it draw near and let the plan of the holy one of Israel come so that we may know it!" 20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! 22 Woe to those who are mighty to drink wine, and champions at mixing strong drink; 23 who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice for the innocent! 24 Therefore as the tongue of fire devours the stubble and as the dry grass sinks down in the flame, so their root will be as rottenness and their blossom will go up as dust, because they have rejected the law of the LORD Almighty and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel. 25 Therefore the LORD's anger burns against his people, and he has stretched out his hand against them, and has struck them. The mountains tremble, and their dead bodies are as refuse in the midst of the streets. For all this, his anger is not turned away, but his hand is still stretched out. 26 He will lift up a banner to the nations from far, and he will whistle for them from the end of the earth. Look, they will come speedily and swiftly. 27 None of them grow tired or stumble. None of them slumber or sleep. The belts on their waists are not loose or their sandal straps broken. 28 whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent; their horses' hoofs seem like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind. 29 They roar like a lioness. They growl like a young lion. They growl as they snatch their prey and carry it off to where no one can rescue it. 30 And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea; when one looks to the land, and lo, darkness! Distress! And light shall be darkened by its clouds.

Deuteronomy 31:19-22

19 "Now write this song and teach it to the Israelites. Put this song in their very mouths, so that it will be a witness for me against the Israelites, 20 because after I've brought them to the land flowing with milk and honey that I promised to their ancestors by an oath, they'll eat, grow fat, and then they'll turn to other gods and serve them, while despising me and breaking my covenant. 21 Then, when many evils and troubles will have come upon them, this song will serve as a witness against them, since their descendants won't fail to sing it. I know the plan that they are devising even before I bring them into the land that I promised them by an oath." 22 And Moses wrote this song on that day and taught it to the Israelites.

Judges 5:1-31

1 In that day Debbora and Barac, son of Abinoem, sung, and said: 2 "When long hair hangs loosely in Israel, when the people willingly offer themselves, bless the LORD! 3 Hear, O you kings. Listen, O you rulers. I, even I, will sing to the LORD. I will sing praise to the LORD, the God of Israel. 4 the LORD, when you went down from Seir, when you marched from the region of Edom, the earth trembled, the heavens poured down, the clouds poured down water. 5 "The mountains shook before the LORD of Sinai, before the LORD, the God of Israel. 6 "In the days of Shamgar son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were deserted. Travelers used the back roads. 7 The leaders ceased in Israel; they ceased until I, Deborah, arose; I arose as a mother in Israel. 8 When they chose new gods, the war was at the gates. Was there a shield or spear to be seen among forty thousand in Israel? 9 My heart to the leaders of Israel, Those giving voluntarily among the people: Praise ye the LORD. 10 "Speak, you who ride on white donkeys, you who sit on saddle blankets, and you who walk by the way. 11 Far from the noise of archers, in the watering places, there they will recite the righteous acts of the LORD, the righteous acts of His rule in Israel. Then the people of the LORD went down to the gates. 12 "Wake up, wake up, Deborah! Wake up, wake up, sing a song! Get up, Barak! Take captive your captives, O son of Abinoam. 13 Then the remnant went down to the nobles; the people of the LORD went down for him against the mighty. 14 Some came from Ephraim who had been harassed by Amalek, followed by Benjamin with your people. Some commanders came from Machir, along with some from Zebulun who carry a badge of office. 15 And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah; even Issachar, and also Barak: he was sent on foot into the valley. For the divisions of Reuben there were great thoughts of heart. 16 Why did you sit among the sheepfolds, to hear the whistling for the flocks? At the watercourses of Reuben there was much searching of heart. 17 Gil’ad abode beyond the Jordan; and Dan—why would he tarry in ships? Asher remained on the seashore, and abode near his bays. 18 The people of Zabulon jeoparded their lives to death; And Nephthaleim came to the high places of the field. 19 Kings came; they fought; then the kings of Canaan fought in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo; they took no gain of silver. 20 From heaven the stars fought; from their courses they fought against Sisera. 21 The river of Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. Tread down, O my soul, with strength. 22 Then, stamped hoofs of horses, With the gallopings, gallopings of his mighty steeds. 23 Curse Meroz, said the angel of the LORD. Curse bitterly its inhabitants, because they did not come to help the LORD, to help the LORD against the mighty. 24 "Most blessed of women is Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite; most blessed is she of women among tent dwellers. 25 He asked for water, and she gave milk; in a drinking bowl for nobles, she brought curds. 26 She reached out her hand to the peg, and her right hand for the workman's hammer; and she struck Sisera, crushed his head, and she shattered and pierced his temple. 27 At her feet he sunk, he fell, he lay; at her feet he sunk, he fell; where he sunk, there he fell down dead. 28 Through the window she looked out. Siseraʼs mother cried out through the lattice, 'Why is his chariot so long in coming? Why are the hoofbeats of his chariots delayed?' 29 The wisest of her ladies answer her; she also answers the question herself: 30 'Are they not finding and dividing the plunder? A bedmate or two bedmates for every man; colorful garments for Sisera, plunder of colorful garments, beautifully finished colorful garments, on the neck of the plunderer?' 31 “So let all your enemies perish, the LORD, but let those who love him be as the sun when it rises in its strength.” Then the land had rest forty years.

His son Jehoiakin succeeded him as king. 9 Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he became king; he was ruling in Jerusalem for three months and ten days, and he did evil in the eyes of the Lord. 10 In the spring King Nebuchadnezzar sent for Jehoiakin and brought him to Babylon with the valuable utensils from the LORD's Temple. 1 A maskil of Asaph. Why, O God, have you rejected us forever? Why does your anger smoke against the sheep of your pasture? 2 Remember your congregation, which you have purchased of old; the tribe of your inheritance, which you have redeemed; this mount Zion, where you have dwelt. 3 Lift your steps to the perpetual ruins, to all that the enemy has ruined in the sanctuary. 4 Your enemies roar in the midst of your congregations; they set up their banners for signs. 5 They behaved like men wielding axes, cutting through a thicket of trees. 6 They strike down all its carved work with hatchet and hammers. 7 They have burned your sanctuary to the ground. They have profaned the dwelling place of your Name. 8 They said in their hearts: "We will destroy them completely. They burned up all the synagogues of God in the land." 9 We see no miraculous signs. There is no longer any prophet. There is no one who knows how long. 10 How long, O God, shall the enemy reproach? Shall the enemy provoke Your name forever?

Lamentations 1:2-9

2 She weeps bitterly in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks; among all her lovers she has none to comfort her. All her friends have dealt treacherously with her; they have become her enemies. 3 Judah has gone into exile because of affliction and harsh servitude; she dwells among the nations, she finds no rest: all her persecutors overtook her in the midst of her distress. 4 The roads of Zion mourn without any going to the appointed feasts. All her gates are deserted; her priests sigh; her virgins are afflicted, and she is in bitterness. 5 Her foes have become her master, her enemies are at ease; the LORD has made her suffer because of the greatness of her transgressions. Her children have gone away, captive before the foe. 6 All majesty has departed from the daughter of Zion. Her princes have become like deer that find no pasture. They have gone without strength before the pursuer. 7 In the days of her affliction and her wandering, Jerusalem remembers all her desirable things from previous days, when her people fell into the hand of the foe; and there is no ally for her. The foes saw her; they laughed at her annihilations. 8 Jerusalem has grievously sinned. Therefore she has become unclean. All who honored her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness. Yes, she sighs, and turns backward. 9 Her filthiness was in her skirts; she did not remember her latter end; therefore her fall was astonishing; she has no comforter. "Look, LORD, on my affliction, for the enemy has magnified himself."

Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes it sacred? 18 And you say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.’ 19 You blind men! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that makes the gift sacred? 20 Therefore, he who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. 21 And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the One who dwells in it. 22 And he who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the One who sits on it. 23 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You pay tithes of mint, dill, and cumin, but you have disregarded the weightier matters of the Law: justice, mercy, and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. 24 You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel. 25 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee, first wash clean the inside of the cup or dish, and then the outside will be clean also. 27 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites!
